Thought after sitting out in the rain for month my car would be washed after my last bush bashing drive...
It wasn't.
I still couldn't tell if it was a GT350 copy or not.

After a run through the Caltex car wash it was of to the shops to do some shopping.
Nothing like parking in a shopping centre car park

Got her out and gave her a really good clean and polish ready for tomorrow's All Ford Day, as she is in the 1966 Display.

 :agree:
It started drizzling for a minute or two the last time I went for a drive, had to stop and new wiper blades to put on..

Got in to go for a quick drive, figured after a month it would be a good idea to check under the hood for any leaks while it was warming up... I've got a leaking radiator hose!

10 minutes of waiting for it to cool down again so I could have a decent look, I have a quick bit of work to do tomorrow to fix it before I can finally take it out again...
Oh well, I suppose it's a good thing I checked first!

Got mine all prettied up for All Fords Day tomorrow. - checked air pressure, filled up with petrol, gave her a tub and blow dried the fox tail.

Then had to ring Big Al and pull out due to my best mate having an accident (ok, but need to be there for him more than at a show. - he's like a brother to me.

Fitted a new electronic distributor, timed the engine, then drove 300 miles to my son's house. Ran like a dream.

Then I went to go out tonight and immediately lost low beam  Looks like a new fuse for the relay tomorrow. Oh why don't I carry spare fuses. And don't ask why I didn't swap fuses with the high beam, simple, I didn't think of it.  :ouch:

Fixed the leak in the cooling system and gave it a quick polish then spent most of the day driving, it had been just over a month since the last drive and it was nice to finally get it back out on the road again..

Then when I got back I found my brother and some of his mates and took them out for a quick cruise and they loved it.. Apparently they have been inspired to get their own old Mustang!

What a difference it makes to have passengers though!
The car felt a whole lot more planted on the road, the ride felt about 1-2" lower which I think is perfect, performance wasn't effected too badly but I could barely believe the difference it made to the steering and suspension.
Being older and softer springs the car normally bounces around over bumps quite a bit, it's not uncomfortable as I'm used to it now.. But with extra weight the car was a lot more planted and seemed faster to react to the bumps rather than the typical "boat" suspension which waits 5 minutes to respond..

I know for sure I'm going to have to lower the ride and put firmer springs and better shocks in to get that difference all the time!

Those springs do make all the difference as I found out recently check out what was hiding inside the leafs. The leafs ahd simply collapsed from 50 odd years of rust.
1967 Mustang Convertible with fries and the works, hold the rust, no timber thank you, go easy on the Bondo and I'll have that in Right Hand Drive please.

I bought a car cover from carcareproducts.com.au. Also sold as the Autotecnica. It was $120 for the LARGE. I am however wishing that I had bought the Extra Large as it is a very tight fit on my 69 mustang. Its a very nice soft fabric but it does let bits of dirt through onto the paintwork, which I notice when I don't use the car for a few weeks. I guess it lets it breathe.

To create the hole for the aerial. I used a plastic grommet, available from Bunnings (per below) to stretch and hold the fabric and I pierced the hole in the middle of the grommet. This should stop the fabric from tearing further.

Been looking at those covers myself Rick (but in blue of course!). Hard to justify when I already have a soft black indoor show cover, but I love the colours. Good idea with the grommet! I was going to get he large as well as that size is supposed to fit the 69. Will take your advice and go extra large if I go ahead. Cheers

Yep - red, black and blue. There's a mob who advertise other colours in the Unique cars mag. But their prices are around the $500 Mark.

Love the idea of that grommet. I have a blue one of those covers and had my wife stitch around the hole for the aerial but the grommet idea looks like it is stronger.

If it is under a cover how is anyone to know you don't have a permit on the windscreen... Even if it is just the club permit! :lmao:
