Angelo, Glad you like it.
We look forward to regular updates and photos as you put her back together.
Brad and Luke have been busy removing the rear quarter panel from Jack`s car -
There was what appeared to be a slight kink in the trunk dropoff panel, so Brad busied himself removing all the "tar like" crud from the panel.
Well... that dropoff panel was left an absolute effing mess which was simply filled up and then tarred over. OMFG! -
Hardly the work of a skilled panel beater!
At first we could not work out why there was only a 5mm difference side to side in the length of the car.
Then we found out why -
The bracket which connects the drop off to the rear light panel had been cut, then the rear light panel had been straightened
followed by rewelding the bracket in the new ( incorrect ) position. That was followed by lots of bog and then tar to make it appear reasonably good.
Roughar@e Bast@rds.
Rang Jack to suggest he call in and check it out. Unknown by us at the time, Jack is quite ill, but his lovely wife Briar drove him down to see the car.
He agreed with us that the dropoff panel needs to be replaced with a new one.
To be fair, Jack does not blame the people who recently fitted the new quarter panel for the inferior dropoff panel repair, but why on earth did they not call him and ask to fit a new dropoff panel?
Also, a bit of cutting and welding will be required to add some fresh metal to the framework where it is welded to the roof section. Not much there at the moment -
In other news, the XC ute is starting to look good. The first part of the stripes are on. Headlining is fitted. Carpet went in today, glass i think is tomorrow, followed by refitting the front panels, tailgate and hard lid, finishing the stripes - then out the door finally. Progress -
Hope you get well soon Jack.
Rocket.
