Thats amazing progress Rod.

I havn't used the Flex machine as yet as it supposed to be a Fathers Day present and I don't have any pads or polish as yet. Plus I still need to learn how to use it properly so I don't stuff anything up.
That engine bay view looks familiar i'll have to post a pic off mine.before and after shots.
Do it to please you not any one else.

I think you are referring to the engine bay when we first stripped this car down. It was a bit of a mess, but starting to look good now -

Would be good to see you post before and after photos of the engine bay in your 66. Always good to see plenty of photos.

Arrived at work late today to find that Luke had fitted the front guards, and then scuffed them back ready for buffing which is not so good for the photos, but it is a work in progress i guess -

Jeremy and Brad were busy putting the front of the car together -

Then we came across the first problem of the day. The lower grille moulding could not be found and not enough time to wait for a new one. Hmmmm.....What to do? A quick phone call to Jeremy`s wife Monique .... and she was happy to donate one! The car trailer was despatched to pick up her 69 Convertible..... and the moulding removed -

Then fitted to the Mach1 -

Monique has a heart of gold!

Brad sorted out another problem. The Radiator fan was too big for the shroud. So had to borrow and then paint another one:smile01:

Meantime Luke had scuffed the bonnet back so that he could polish it before we fitted it to the car. Came up very shiny -

Ron was busy fitting the rest of the interior to his Mach1 -

It is a very good car -looks tough too -

Part 2 shortly.

Hi Dale, This car is already registered, so no last minute rego dramas to worry about.
I believe Jeremy has ordered some personalised plates for it, so just needs to pick them up and bolt them on.
Ron`s Mach1 is booked in at Regency first thing Monday morning. So fingers crossed for him.

Oh Yeah - We will go cruising for sure. My baby sat in the garage all summer -

The Airconditioner was cactus when we returned from the Roundup in Melbourne. We ordered a Sanden conversion kit from the USA, but it never arrived until a couple of weeks ago. The Grande is currently at the Auto Electricians having the new unit fitted.
So what has that got to do with it you might ask? Well i am one of those people who sweat like the proverbial in hot weather. In the genes im afraid. Need Aircond. Nothing to stop us now. Lets cruise!

Are you coming to Newcastle?

With only a week left before we must have this car finished, it has become necessary to change plans slightly.

The car will now go to the Auto Electrician first thing Monday. He will check all electrical systems to make sure everything is connected correctly and operational.
Tuesday it will be taken to Dave the Mechanic and Exhaust Specialist. He will fit the new exhaust system and fire up the engine for the first time and run in the cam.
All going well it will be back in our workshop on Wednesday for buffing/polishing, then the stripe man will fit the stripes.
That leaves us Thursday, Friday and Saturday for wheel alignment, any fine tuning and to rectify any problems along the way.

More photos from yesterday -
Jeremy putting the front together -

Bonnet being fitted -

Brad and Jeremy fitting front bumper bar -

Front almost finished, just need to fit moulding to front of bonnet -

Next it was up on the hoist with Moniques Convertible -

So that Brad could remove her power steering hoses for the red mach1 -

Thanks Monique! We had trouble locating the hoses. Jeremy has promised monique that when we return from Newcastle we will finally finish off the vert and get it registered for her. Then it is off limits as a source of spare parts! This is the second time her car has "come in handy":smile01:

By the time that was all done it was well past knock off time.

Jeremy, Brad and Luke were all getting a 6.30 AM start this morning. There is a lot of work left to do before Monday. Jeremy will fit the dash and complete interior, Brad will concentrate on Mechanicals and Luke will resume scuffing the body. Might drop in later with the camera to check on progress.

Hi Dale, From what Jeremy was saying, it could be a late one!

I am working on another project that needs to be completed - Painting a house. I plan to leave the house about 2pm and head down to the workshop.

Come on down to the workshop.

Michael, Think i might know what you want to show me. Hint -Is it Orange and Black?:smile01:
Are you going to update your build Thread?

Dale, Missed you by just a couple of minutes today. Bugger. Will catch you next time.

Mark, At this stage i am not so sure it will be totally finished. Certainly hope so, but there is an absolute myriad of jobs to do.

Walked into the workshop just after 2 pm today to see the car up on the hoist -

As it turned out, they were not happy with the power steering lines and so rang Hardie Spicer. They came out and made and fitted some new lines. Very neat job -

While it was on the hoist they fitted the tailshaft, speedo cable etc, then bled the brakes -

Then Jeremy got stuck into fitting the engine bay loom -

About this time, the stripe man - Ian and his lovely wife called in to fit the stripes to Ron`s Mach1 -

We are still doing other work while this car is being put back together. Here is a job we did mid week on a stunning Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. MOCA Members car -

What a beauty!

Because the Red Mach1 was on the hoist for most of the day, there was no time to fit the interior. Jeremy did manage to fit some looms under the dash. Tomorrow ( Sunday ) Jeremy and Brad will be hard at it again.

The boys were very tired when we locked up the workshop tonight. Jeremy, Brad and Luke have put in a stellar effort this weekend. Dear old dad is quite proud of them.

Think i can confidently say that we will now make it - barring any major problems.

They spent the morning fitting the Sail Panels. When i wandered in after a leisurely lunch they were just about finished that part -

Next they fitted the Trap Door together -

Followed by the back seats -

Brad had a bit of a rest in the back seat after fitting them -

Next job was to fit the centre console -

Time for the front seats -

The new parking brake mechanism was also fitted -

Luke has prepared the bonnet scoop -

Early start again in the morning to fit the instrument cluster, glove box, and radio panel, then onto the car trailer and down to the Auto Electrician.
We are relying on him to do the job tomorrow and then hopefully off to Daves workshop Tuesday.

Thanks Dale, here she is on the way to the Auto Electrician this morning -

This is now the worrying stage. Relying on others who may or may not have the same sense of urgency as we do. I am sure Dave will get his part done on time, in fact he has already been on the phone this morning.

Ron took off in his Mach1 at 7AM this morning! He wanted to be first in line for their 8AM opening. He has to have the engine no. and ID check done first, then around the corner for 9AM booking to do Roadworthy Inspection. Hope it goes well for him. Will know soon.

When Ron returned from Regency Inspection Station this morning he was not a happy camper.

The first Inspection which was Engine no. and ID check went well, but not so good at the Roadworthy.

He was knocked back for a few minor items.

The Crossmember under the Engine was a bit bent - nothing serious , we did not worry about it because it was just cosmetic. But they did! Car is up on the hoist. This is a welded Crossmember. Ron drilled out the spot welds on the bottom plate. Luke then panel beated it all straight and now the bottom plate can be welded back on -

Other items were - Engine running a bit rough - he knew this but was going to tune it up this week.

Wheel Alignment - Car was tracking well. Was going to have a wheel alignment this week.

Back seat not in properly on one side - pushed it in - now ok.

Indicators not cancelling. Took a chance on this. Cannot find a new indicator switch in Australia. This may prevent Ron from taking the car to Newcastle. Bugger!

Not easy to get a car through sometimes.

I'm always surprised at little things like this, it takes a second to fix.

Yes Stephen SLR, It was certainly a " Gotcha " moment.

But the fact is Ron had worked his guts out last week on the car in an effort to have it ready. At the same time he was also helping us on the Red Mach1.
We feel a bit responsible because if he had simply worked on his own car - then probably the tune up, wheel alignment etc would have been done.
The man has a heart of gold. One minor moment is nothing.

Yeah it is minor in the scheme of things.

They've caught me out on the seat before. I remove the bottom half of rear to transport a speaker box to rehearsals, the only time it's in is when I do pink slip inspections.

I've wondered if it was the only thing would they give me a minute to fix it on the spot.
