Hi Dale, Ron is getting stuck right into it.

They have finished welding the crossmember plate back on. Looks good too!

He has managed to locate a repair kit for the indicator switch.

Fingers crossed for him.

In other news the red mach1 is now ready to be picked up from the Auto Electrician. Jeremy and Brad are on the way to pick up, then drop it off with Dave.
Might sneak down to Dave`s later with the camera.

Hi Mark, did not manage to get down to Dave`s workshop today. Too busy at work.

But i do know that he was making good progress with the exhaust system. Jeremy had to take a drum of petrol to Dave tonight so they could put some in the fuel tank of the mach1 ready to fire the engine up tomorrow.

Dave should be finished with the car early pm tomorrow, then it will be back to us for the final push to get her done.

Dale - You must know Dave well! Certainly likes a chinwag.

While the Red mach1 is over with Dave, we have some time to prepare the cars for the trip to Newcastle.

Jeremy was not happy with the drivers door on his Blue Mach1. It was hard to close. So this morning we removed the door -

To fit new Hinges -

Of course nothing is ever easy on these old cars. The Threads in the nuts inside the door are stripped. So out with the Tap and Die set to Retap the Threads -

Problem solved.

Ron has had some good luck with his Mach1. He was able to source a kit to repair his indicator switch. Job done. The car is now across the road having a wheel alignment -

Still waiting for the Grande to come back from the Auto Electrician. He is fitting the Sanden Air Cond conversion. When it returns i still need to fit a new radiator and check the welch plugs. Had a bit of coolant on the garage floor where the Grande was parked. Not sure where the coolant was leaking from.

Good news for the day - Brad rang from Dave`s to say they have started the engine on the Red Mach1 and it purrs very nicely. Ripper! They have a few things to finish off under the bonnet. Car will be back here late this arvo or tomorrow morning.

Hi Dale, Yes - Ron is booked in at 8AM tomorrow morning. Can see no reason why it will not pass this time. Engine is running smooth as silk, crossmember looks like new, wheel alignment and report all done, indicator switch working as it should. Heck - even the back seat is locked in
:smile01::thumb:

Was waiting for Jeremy to go to Dave`s to pick up the Red Mach1 this arvo, but no need. Brad drove it back!:yellowpepper: -

Engine is running sweet -

Lot of jobs left to do, but not much time left. Alternator light is on all the time, so the Auto Electrician is calling in tomorrow morning to sort that. Then Jeremy can put the rest of the dash together, followed by door trims, followed by seat belts, followed by.......etc
Luke will be busy doing the scuff and buff, while Brad sorts out a few mechanical bits left to do.
Wheel alignment Friday, then Stripe man late Friday.

Think it will be a stressful couple of days!

The Grande arrived back from the Auto Electrician -

Here is the Sanden Conversion -

Jeremy fitted a new radiator this arvo. We realized upon removing the old radiator that it was only a 2 row core - New radiator has 3 rows of tubes - much better!

Also fitted a new heater outlet to the inlet manifold. Think that should cure the leaking coolant problem.

Just have to refit the centre console and give the car a good clean. decided to fit the Leather Steering wheel for the trip -

I have my fingers crossed that you have no issues pop up and it all comes together in the end (probably with just seconds on the clock). It's been great getting so many updates lately. How many cars are you guys taking up?

Hi MachAttack, We will be cutting it fine but at this stage all is looking good.

We will be bringing three of our cars to the Nationals. The Grande, The Blue Mach1 and......... The Red Mach1 ( Hopefully) which will be on the car trailer. Will have very few Klm under our belt with this car. Sure to be a few teething problems, so do not want to chance driving it that far just yet.
If by chance we do not get the Red Mach1 finished, i think Jeremy`s 65 Fastback is waiting in the wings.

If all goes well for Ron tomorrow, he will bring his 71 Mach1.

Thanks mate, We thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Melbourne for the Roundup. This trip will have 21 or 22 cars in the convoy. Will be an absolute blast!

Might ask Jeremy to bring his Video camera and post some videos along the way.

I don't suppose Melbourne is too far out of the way is it? :smile01: I'd pull up a deck chair for that. Looking forward to seeing the videos.

Better still - You could pull up a deckchair just outside Newcastle on Wednesday arvo just as we arrive.

I am actually a bit worried about the road conditions around Hay and Cowra. The Evacuation order for the residents of Hay was lifted last weekend, but there was still a warning for water over the road in some areas. Hope it has cleared away by next Monday and Tuesday.

Hey Thanks fellas.

Dad, South Australian LHD Rego regulations stipulate the car must be kept as it came out of the factory. So no humpy wheels for Ron. In any case, he is more of a concourse sort of a man. Don`t think you would ever see him do a burnout.:smile01::smile01::burnout::nono:

Was quite a calm day at work. Everybody was happy about Ron`s car and just plodded on with the work. Jeremy finished fitting the dash together -

Luke started the day scuffing back the car, but then went onto the Blue Mach1. We had to remove the front guard, bumper bar and grille in order to get to the hinge bolts to adjust the hinges on the drivers door. Was quite a big job, but the door sits much better now. Jeremy finished putting the front back together about 6pm.

Not many photos today. Cars do not look good after scuffing -

The boys are getting a very early start tomorrow. Hope to do some buffing before the car goes for a wheel alignment at 8 AM. We are at the wheel aligners mercy. When it comes back there is still some work to do. Might be a very late one tomorrow.
