Seats are heated/cooled and electric movement on both sides - You can move the top half forward for entry to the rear seats via the lever at the bottom of the seat, there is also a "lever" in the middle of the back of the front seat which put it back upright into it's original position.

I have read a lot of comments from motoring journalists and forums that have stated we have been ripped off by Ford with the pricing in Australia.  Many saying the price here is $20,000 more than punters pay in the US.  It has been repeated so often that everyone seems to accept it as a fact.  I never felt that we were being gouged and didn't care anyway because I was very happy with the Australian pricing, even though I felt I was gouged a bit on the dealer delivery.

Anyway, I decided to do the math.  I used the US Ford website and configured a GT Premium with Performance Pack, which is roughly equivalent to the Australia specs. The Australian version does seem to have a couple of additional features that have not been included in the US price, but I have noted them separately.

The conclusion is that the Australian price is at least A$5000 cheaper than the US equivalent and possibly A$9000 cheaper if you include the additional extras that seem to be included in the Oz specs.

A couple of caveats:
I have not included any cost for shipping to Australia.
I am not sure if the US price is a drive-away price.
 - If it is a drive-away price it includes some local taxes etc. but remember I have not included any shipping costs.
 - If it is not a drive-away price then the Oz price is even cheaper by comparison.
The USD conversion is 0.72c to A$1
The $5000 cheaper conclusion is based on the original Australian pricing, before the local price increase on 1st Dec 2015.

I am not suggesting the comparison is perfect but it is as objective as I can make it with the information available.  The comparison doesn't really matter because we can't change the local price anyway.  I just wanted to bust some myths.

Austang, are your sure the $56.5K price doesn't already include the GST component?

Also, the American pricing should include their state taxes, which the rate is different in each state.

I have been watching this forum over the past few months, which has provided me more information on the progress of my mustang build than City Ford has....  Thanks guys and gals.

I've ordered a Shadow Black GT with black rims. According to the VIN it was completed on the 18th December and has been shipped via rail to Baltimore. I've been checking the 2WGlobal website daily waiting for the car to be allocated to a ship, no luck yet.

Anyone willing to hazard a guess when I will eventually take delivery?

Mine was apparently completed on the 29th October, booked for transport on the 1st December, loaded on a vessel on the 14th December, with an ETA of the 15th January to Port Kembla. I don't know if that is it's offload point or just the first point of arrival of the ship. The internal communication between Ford America, Ford Australia and the dealer network appears very disjointed (probably not helped by Christmas) because apparently you are supposed to get an email with your VIN number and tracking info once you car is booked for transport (I did not (made a call to Ford Australia)) and then rang my dealer and shared my info so he can track other customer cars as well.

My delivery timeline:
Built late October
At Baltimore late Oct / early Nov
Waited in Baltimore for around 3 weeks before being loaded on ship
Left Baltimore around 20 November
Arrived Melbourne 20 December
Picked up from dealer on 5 January  :thumb:

I am not sure which reference you are making to $56.5K but the driveway price for a GT was around $61K inc. GST before the 1st Dec price rise.

As I said in the caveat, I am not sure if the local US taxes were in the price I used. It was based on California and I assume it includes their local sales tax.

You'll be seeing another white one (manual) on that stretch in 2-3 weeks, that's 1km from my place.

Just picked up my Race Red GT a couple of hours ago.  I saw it yesterday pre-delivery and it had 14.5 kms.  On pickup today it had 20 kms.  BTW, it was the first one delivered by Knox Ford.  A blue GT arrived in the same delivery but hasn't been picked up yet.

To add to comments regarding the ecoboost - I have no question about its performance but you can't beat the sweet coyote V8.  :thumb:

Was up at Knox Ford today and I think that same Blue GT is still there......they are a little concerned I think.

Apparently the customer doesn't answer his phone.  Must be on holidays.  At least Knox Ford seem to be doing the right thing by the customer and have it covered in their showroom.
