I feel its perfectly ok to get Eco Boost. I have been wanting to own a Mustang since my days in Atlanta. But I also want something that I can use as a daily driver and not be heavy on wallet. I won't be putting it on track, ever. So, it works for me

Nothing wrong with an eco boost, just google and look at some of the performance figures, not to bad at all.

I have a V8 on order, ordered in March 2015, received an email from Ford, build date Feb 2016, dealer delivery late April 2016.

Interestingly they did say if any changes were made now, it would be a new order and to the back of the line, as they are currently being made to order, was also told official Ford launch is December 2015 and they waiting until they have some here to officially launch, first cars arriving are an even spread across all dealers to ensure every dealer has a few on hand even know they are sold, for the launch in December.

This was what I was told by my dealer, so a wait and see, but. Must say, they seemed pretty confident with the information.

One thing I remember my dealer mentioned was if you make a big down payment e.g. $5-7k, the delivery can be brought sooner. It be worth while to explore that option with dealer. Although, I think that's in control of Ford USA but he seemed confident that I made bigger advance payment, I can get it early.  :thumb:

Already enough V8 grunt laying around so the Eco makes a nice change - perfect platform for a convertible.
Not crazy about the black wheels or clear rear lenses, plenty of aftermarket gear around so no biggie.

Cheers

I think your dealer is pissing in your pocket, the cars are being made to order based on the date the order was placed, so if you order a red car, the only way you can get yours earlier, is for someone in front of you at that dealer, being bumped and you get his car, my dealer was pretty clear, I have an orange car on order, and cars are being supplied based on order date, so if I cancel my order, my orange car doesn't go to the next person at that dealer with an orange car on order, it would go to the next orange car on order, anywhere in Australia, so the only way your dealer can push you ahead after taking your upfront payment, would be to delay someone else, which Ford head office wouldn't be supportive of I would suspect.

Again, this was explained to me by my dealer, as I expected my car next month, however it's now arriving April 2016" yes I did try your suggestion to get it earlier, hence the response.

I agree Keith. I've also got an orange car on order due in May 16. I know the stock controller at my dealership and as you say the orders are based on date.

The whole concept of advance booking is that you can walk away with minimum or no penalty and that Ford isn't bound by legal timeline to deliver as you haven't paid in full. Ford won't actually build your car till the last few weeks of promised delivery date which at any rate can fluctuate. Not all dealers are happy to help but if you get someone who's willing to go extra mile, your car can come sooner. From your note it seems like your dealer isn't. Doesn't surprise me, I had to shop around before getting someone who was willing to be nice.

anywho, good luck the date isn't that far

has anyone tried getting comprehensive insurance?  I'm going to start asking around this week. I've got three cars with NRMA and I'm going to start there.

I'll keep you posted but i was wondering if anyone has tried yet with any of the specialist brokers.

Pre march 2015 orders are loosely based on date but also on dealer activity. I am aware of some March 2015 orders about to sail while some December 2014 orders are yet to be built.

Not sure if post came up yesterday-had a call from Powerhouse Ford in Mackay yesterday saying mine will be delivered 28/11/15 and I ordered Jan 2014. That does not seem to gel with other responses here

Jefferson Ford quoted me $50700.00 for delivery on the road of a manual Ecoboost, no options.
Sound right?
Ford website quotes $ 49700.00

This could very well be correct, every Ford dealer is supposed to have a few on hand when they launch in December, I was told this was a must by Ford Australia, so in order to meet this, your car car whilst may not be the first ordered in the country, could be one of the first ones for your dealer.

comparethemarket.com.au can do an insurance quote for the new Mustang.
An Ecoboost six speed manuals in my area is $330.00 a year full comprehensive.
That's less than my BA Falcon XR6.

A mate of mine went to the local Ford dealer last week to enquire about buying a 2015 V8 Mustang and was told he would need to put down a $3000 deposit and could expect delivery in September 2016!

G'day everyone,

I placed an order for a GT convertible in Magnetic early in March. I have had few contacts from the dealer since then. A couple of phone calls, and an email on my birthday from Ford with paragraphs of motherhood statements and the usual rah-rah, finishing up with "We'll let you know when we start to build yours". That was a month ago, and nothing since then on my email.

However, the dealer had a blue GT ragtop on the floor for a weekend and I went out to see that one. He got to drive me all the way from the showroom to the nearest car spot on the dealers lot in it. Which was nice. All of 20 meters, but the sound was great....

During this time he told me that the earliest order they had, placed in late 2013 or something weird like that, was scheduled to be delivered this week. But about 4 weeks ago they got an email from Ford AU advising them there was a delay. So they called the immensely patient client and told him it would be End of Nov. Just as they got off the phone to him, another email comes in, advising the prior email was a stuff up, first delivery still scheduled for end Oct.

Mine apparently still scheduled for Apr 2016.

Also, just reading some of the posts re transit times, I think 3 weeks from US factory to  AU Dealer is a bit skinny. I think two months is more like it. Could be wrong, but I would be very surprised to see a Feb 2016 built Mustang handed over to me in April 2016....still, cant wait for the thing to get here!!

Overseas production will always add two months of shipping time. You need to hope it's not in the top container on the deck! Apparently so many containers are falling overboard these days that containers cannot be watertight anymore because they have been floating and creating a shipping hazard.

I was thinking about buying one next year, but if this is going to be Ford's standard then I'll just enjoy my 69s. I will only buy from stock here if they ever get to that level.

I remember being pissed off with the six week wait in 1974 for my new XB GS V8, and then it arrived in the wrong colour!

That would be for more personal imports like buying a classic mustang from the U.S.
