Hi littlejohn, I ordered a Mallory Electronic Distributor from Amazon last Saturday. It arrived yesterday! That is what I call fast. :thumb:

Don`t worry, if you go hard enough at that Wild Turkey the days spent waiting for your Summit parts will be a blur.

Took the car to Parkes Show & Shine. Had a great day with about 140 entries but only two other Mustangs, both 67's.

Unfortunately no prizes but many good comments, very happy.

OK, actually fitted this a few weeks ago, but just got around to taking a pic today ... new Budnik steering wheel to replace the rimblow. As much as I liked the look of the rimblow, it was too narrow and the bloody horn switch never worked ! also was a 15" so this one gives me a bit more legroom too :

Really happy with the quality and the install was a snap.

Cheers,
Frank.

Looks purdy Frank!

Thanks Johnno.

I have had the rimblow and the Grant wheel previously and neither had a decent horn switch. This one is just the oval silver part on the hub , is a sealed unit and works great.

Cheers,
Frank.

Before I start welding new sheet steel into my Stang, I had one project to do as practice with using the TIG on mild steel. I've welded quite a bit of aluminium now with the TIG but not much steel. My truck needs a new exhaust so am having a go at that.
I brought a new Magnaflow muffler, used the original twin pipe flange as it mounts right behind the Oxy sensor cross pipe. The old system went 2 into 1 so I dumped the old cat and put in 2 low km Falcon cats. I'm using mandrel bend pipes, I brought some 180 degree bends to chop up, even though they don't look it in the photo. It was only a 25 degree bend so minimal elbow was used.
I'll have some flanges arriving tomorrow to weld to the back of the muffler to then make the rest of the pipe section. The old muffler was one piece right through but it is too heavy and a pain in the arse that way so am adding a second join.

I found welding mild steel much easier than aluminium so am confident now about welding the Stang with the TIG. It's just going to be a matter of learning what amps are needed as welding aluminum in AC you mostly weld in the 100-140 amp range. With this I was around the 40 amp range in DC.

Nice work Ash.

Kinda wish I bought a TIG instead of a MIG - I think I would have found it easier to do tidy welds.

Cheers,
Frank.

Cheers Peter and Frank  :thumb:

I don't know if I'll go back to the MIG. I don't like mine, I just can't get it to do what I want. I'm finding one thing the MIG has over the TIG is when you need to do a quick tack weld and you don't have that extra hand to feed a filler rod in. Sometimes you can get a puddle to form and bond the two pieces just enough to let go and grab a filler rod. But sometimes it is too tricky to do that.

Fitted the '70 fuel tank (22 US gallons) into the '66, along with required filler neck, easy fit, but why do some people use silastic as a sealer around the tank?

Used windscreen sealant so no more acid attack worries.

Now for a new custom made boot carpet.
