There was a guy who went to get a face lift. When they saw what was under it they put it back down.

Did you inspect your car personally? What condition is it in?

Don't think i'm having a go at you but what does that have to do with this thread, he was asking about import approval times, i'm sure he can look after his own affairs when it comes to condition of the car, its his money and his life and i'm sure he knows the pittfalls of buying a car from overseas.

Happy days are here :redpepper::redpepper::redpepper: thanks Matt.

@68Pony: I think I'll sleep better once it's on the water. That means it's on the way.

@MustangPaul: While I appreciate your concern, from the photos and videos Matt has sent and his professed love for the car :smile01: I'm quite confident that it is not indeed a polished turd and is as good as Matt believes it is. Of course there are risks buying a car sight unseen but if the car turns out to be an old hag with a facelift I could always get a carpenter to repair it for me. I do not part with my money on a whim. Matt did offer me money to walk away from the car but after an extremely patient 8 month search I wasn't about to let this one go. Thanks heaps Matt and Sheri. :thumb:

Well things are moving now..... my car left this week on a Trans-Pacific cruise. :redpepper::yellowpepper::redpepper::yellowpepper::redpepper:
Should arrive in Melbourne on May 12th. I've tried a few shipping tracker sites, can anyone recommend a good one? So far only one has shown the vessel it's on, although that was from the 22nd April.

Not long now...... :burnout:

Whats on your loading docket...there should be the name of the ship?

Great to know it is on the way.

If you do a search for "Pacific North West String " you will see the route of the ship, and if you find a schedule just look to see which ship from Long Beach is due on the 12th May in Melbourne.

Agree with macka though, the ships name should be shown on the bill of loading.

I use these two different sites, sometimes one will update quicker than the other and vica-versa.

I can't believe they're still making you wait, I sure hope you've got it long before mine arrives. You'd think they'd want the car gone.

@ J1, that 2nd site won't pick up the vessel but the first one is the site I've been using. I'll just make do with that one. Cheers. :thumb:

I can't believe that! Do you know if it is the car holding up the process or just a bunch of paperwork, pencil pushing bullshit?

I don't think you are having a go at me and I have enjoyed my membership so far. the facelift bit was a joke my 63 year old panel beater brother told me years ago. I thought I'd share that humour with you.  Probably best when someone asks how are you not to tell them to mind their own business. Goes the same when someone tries to share your success on a buy.

Nobody got it or it's a very bad 'dad' joke.

Is it referring to a car or person?

Imagine going in for a face lift. They don't really lift your face they just re arrange it. The joke implies that to get a facelift they actually lift the face. A doctor would not do such a thing. And I don't blame you for not getting the joke it was a very bad joke. I told my brother that at the time. I thought it was just my sense of humour though as I respect my brother so much. Now I'm going to tell him I was right, it was a bad joke. I really must apologise, it was just the way I was brought up. Bad brother, bad brother. You should have heard what I had to put up from the rest of my family. I going to look for a joke school that will put up with me so I don't upset so many people any more. I'm very sorry, I'm really sorry. My God I'm so sorry. Please forgive me for my sick perverted, twisted sense of humour and please don't tell me how you are, I know it's none of my business.

I think the confusion was they thought you were saying the car had some face lift and the inspector or buyer wasn't good enough to pick it as being dodgy?
