« on: January 30, 2011, 04:37:03 pm »
Just thougt id say that yesterday me, dad my uncle and one of my friends came round to help take the motor out of the coupe, it is.now in the shed after being hit with 2 cans of degreaser, high pressure cleaner and some compressed air, it will be strippd and then repainted ready to be put in, at the same time i will be trying to clean or even repaint the engine bay to match...

Thats very clean!

I'd take this opportunity to change the rear main seal, timing case seal, sump gasket, rockercover gasket and welch plugs while it's out, and you can work on it properly.

if you're going to all that trouble, maybe hide the engine wiring also for that extra neat look...

Where does it stop?

What do you mean, hide the engine wires?, how does that work???i have never heard of that being done before if it costs nothing may consider it... what is involved and finally what do you mean "where does it end?"

hidden wiring.:thumb:
just a hot rod fad where all the wiring in the engine bay is re routed under the fenders or behind the firewall for that cleaner look. not really worth it for a dayley and it dusent improve your horsepower :rol:

Sounds ok, but how hard is it to do?

On another topic what are peoples opinions of a black coupe with parchment interior? I thought it could look pretty cool... Havnt seen it yet though, long way away from a respray though...not enough dough...yet...

Hi JT

If you are thinking of fixing up engine, I highly recommend ijust doing it while the engine is out as there so much more room, its easier (trust me) and you will have this pretty engine sitting there and a not so a nice engine bay looking at you.

Herman
Have now converted the other half into doing some of the Concours washin, cleaning & polishing stuff!!!!!!!!

Need some decent weather to do the bay, coz the car is outside...

Does anyone know who to do to preserve the fomoco sticker on the shock tower? I dont wanna take it off but i need to sand the paint around the bay to prime & paint...

jt you can buy almost every replacement sticker, the tower sticker included im sure

Definitely give the engine bay a tidy up. repair any damaged wires/re-wrap them, all good

Nice work getting it all clean, great effort infact

Jarrod, Job well done! All that work has paid off handsomely for you.

Are you going to replace the rocker cover? Just wondering why you never painted it.

When you are ready to fit the thermostat housing and fuel pump back on - make sure to clean all paint off the areas where the gaskets sit. Bit of 80 grit frecut will do the job. Make sure the surfaces are very smooth and free of paint, old gaskets etc.
