na thats fine Kerry, I knew everyone would be keeping an eye on me. Need a new solenoid, though a tap with the hammer sorts the problem for now:+ Mate's back this arvo to do a bit more patching, then another friend coming in to check over the steering and tell me what I need. Loving every minute of it so far. Aiming for a spring finish just in time for cruising weather:f

Well after a bit more rubbing back and killing the rust I finally got some of the panels into the booth for priming. Also got the bonnet and boot lid and a few of the fiddily bits back from the blaster today. Used a guy in Naval Base and did a great job for a decent price.

After rubbing back over the weekend and then a final cut after a few rub throughs on Tuesday I got the first coats of red on. Yesterday arvo after a morning of another rub back to get rid of some of the crap that landed in the paint it got it's final coats of red and I'm very happy. I'm going to leave it sit for a week now( no time spare) and then rub back with 1200 ready for a few coats of clear, leave for another week and buff.

the first coats of red wasn't enough thinners in the mix

Yeh Mike did the painting myself. The next step is a light rub with 1200 and then a couple of coats of clear.

Did you paint your own car?

Tried to catch you at the end of the last monthly meet but you were too quick departing...

Hi Mike, no I didn't paint my car that's why once the vert is finished I'm pulling mine apart to get it done right. It looks like they painted it in the middle of a dust storm and the stripes are all over the show. I'm going to redue mine with a bit more metal flake in it and the stripe is going to be BMW Jezel Black.
I'll be at the next meeting, will catch up then, last one I had to get going, I want to catch up with Rick also.

Got the clear coat done on Saturday, got a little bit of dust in a couple of panels but no biggy. Very happy with the outcome.

Leave it to harden for a week then polish it up:rub:
