Progress on my 66 fastback
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:21:55 am »
It's been a while since I have posted, so here is an update on the 66'.

She's on the spinner and has just had her underside done. A lot of the factory primer was still there after cleaning all the grease and oil off around the tunnel area. The car is a Silver Frost (paint code 4) car. The tone of the primer on the car was almost a salmon pink colour, so we matched to that.

The wheel wells cleaned up really nice. Protected for 40+ years by the thick factory body deadener. And the lack of snow in California!
Sub-frame connectors and traction bar mount points have been fitted. (Diff has been test fitted.)

Here's what she looked like before the teardown.

I just want to put a big thank you out there to John and the boys at Gasoline Alley for doing such good work on my car.

Cheers,

Thanks :)

Paint inside the cabin, and the engine bay.

Install the diff. Install the front suspension. Its a long list, but eventually, just drive it! :burnout:

Thanks for the nice comment, I'll pass it on. As usual, it looks better in the flesh than in my lame photo's. I hope to be doing laps of the waterfront (and lakeside!) in the future.

The engine, gearbox, and diff have been fully refurbed and are ready to go. The seats are done. The car is completely free of rust and is straight now, so it can't be too long now :)

regards

chris

I'd like to take the credit for the work u see on my car, but that would be lame :) I did a few rust repairs, tore it down a bit, sand blasted a bit and painted a bit, and organized a bit.

The guy's who are restoring my car are John and the boy's at www.gasolinealley.com.au

The are doing a top notch refurb on the fastback, and they've been putting in the hours. I would recommend checking them out!

Hope to be hitting the streets one day in the not too distant future!

cheers

looking good :thumb:
Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an 67, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on MOCA, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car...................

I've found that deadlines are not really a high priority! Quality of finish, cashflow and careful consideration are more important.
Sometime before beaurocrats make old cars illegal would be fine with me.

Good luck with your coupe. I had a 67 once. Loved it :thumb:
