Hey guys,

Does anyone know what 'Liner Release' means when tracking your mustang. As far as I can tell the boat is not due to arrive in Melbourne for another couple of days, yet the location of this status is Melbourne.

Cheers

Liner release is prior notice of an impending offload. Your car is getting closer.

I got this email from Ford yesterday.

 Excitement is building

    Hi Darren,

Great news, you are officially one step closer to getting behind the wheel of your brand new Magnetic Mustang Fastback. Production of your vehicle has been completed at the assembly line in Flatrock, Detroit and in the coming days your Mustang with a 5.0l V8 Engine will make its way by train to the port to be shipped. This will take about 20 days.

We will send you another email soon confirming that your vehicle has been shipped and is on its way to Australia.

Get to know your Mustang and the history behind the design and build in the Making of the US Mustang video series.*

    Best wishes,

Ford Australia.

Rang my dealer and he said don't worry about that email your car is due in December/January.  Anyone else had this email??  And i was a bit surprised as i only ordered in Feb this year.

G'day,
My name is Ken.
I am the proud owner of a new Mustang that is currently on its pacific cruise.

I have found this site to be a wealth of knowledge and information.  Thanks heaps.

I ordered my race red 2.3l fastback (SBMB9B1) on the 23 May this year, naturally expecting about a years + wait.
on 18 June the dealer rang me in the morning and asked if i wanted it early as they had some movement in their orders, didn't take too much thought, i said yes.

From that point on i started trying to track the vehicle.  I managed to get the NSC number and from that i got the VIN and so on.
this other mustang site healped a lot
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37055

on the bill of loading it indicated 16 vehicles. Im not say they are all Mustangs, but they might be for those waiting.

Attached is the bill of loading, and a map of the route being taken by the ship (named Tamesis).
The Tamisis is currently sailing between Panama and French Polynesia, expected to get there about 7 July.
The other ports it is stopping at are:
Auckland (14 July)
Brisbane (18 July)
Port Kembla (21 July)
Melbourne (24 July)
aftre that I dont care, but just for info Fremantle (29 July)

After this is the 7-10 days ports/customs the 3-5 days dealership.

I'll be one happy person in August!! only after a 3 month wait.   :event:

Regards
Ken

I have a feeling they're telling people longer build dates to cover themselves. Makes sense.

The avg overall time from order to delivery seems to be about 14 to 15 months.

We ordered in Oct 14 - was built in Sept 15 and delivered on 29th Dec 15.

You may be lucky to pick up an unclaimed order - but that's for the lucky few.

Just have to relax and let it happen or you'll be a blithering mess by the time it is parked in your garage.

It's worth the wait  :burnout:

Cheers

J

Do you mean new orders are a 12 month wait?

I was driving through Towradgi (or very close to it) yesterday and there was a 2015 Mustang for sale in the yard.

There were a few others about as well, but not for sale.

Finally got my 2.3 after a 13 month wait. Happy NO. Absolutely thrilled with it YES. Worth the wait. Probably the most FUN car I have ever owned. Power and economy dont always go together in the same sentence.

I can think of 10,000 reasons... in all seriousness and everyone's circumstances are different but the cost of a v8 may be beyond someone's budget. 10k can be put towards a nice holiday, kids education etc.
