Got a phone call from the Ford dealer yesterday my car is scheduled to be built in Sep 2016 and possible delivery in Dec. (Blue GT Mustang for Christmas). Placed order in first week of Jan 2016. My order was pushed forward due to the number of people who have replaced there orders to ensure that they get the 2017 spec model and have now joined the rear of the waiting list.. :evilone:

My question is the 2017 model upgraded worth the extra wait as the only key changes I can see is the change in colour and the upgraded SYNC system?

Welcome to the forum Stinger

Thanks, I've been following this thread for about a month and JadeMach1 is probably one of the closest people to have ordered near my time frame.

Mine was ordered in nov and I have still not received anything from ford. I stopped in to dealer last week to ask for an update and was told I'm at the top of there list but was also told they placed there orders with ford last month, WTF does this mean they held my order for 6 months before even putting it threw

It means you have a very long time to wait. The dealer has done you no favours. Last I heard its a 18 month wait, from order, possible 24.....

I ordered mine from Freeway Ford in Cranbourne Vic. The only call I've received was at the 6 month mark to let me know that all they could see was that the order had been accepted. They couldn't give me an rough ETA like you got though.

To say I'm excited is an understatement :pepper:. Here's why - I ordered my Mustang GT in Ingot Silver in May 2015. The car was built 24.03.2016, left Baltimore and loaded onto the ship (Salome) on the 30.04.2016. After travelling down the east coast of America, via the Panama Canal, to Auckland, Brisbane, Port Kembla, the ship arrived in Melbourne on Saturday everning 03.06.2016. The car is due to be uploaded to the dealer on the 10.06.2016. I must say, the dealer has been great in keeping me informed (not that they needed to as I was watching the car through the whole process). They even let me drive one for half an hour which further fuelled my excitment. I am expecting only a few more weeks till I get the car and I'll be a little bit sad that the journey is over but the sadness will be replaced by the sheer excitement of driving the new Mustang GT. :burnout:

Yep mine was on Salome also and have been tracking it, has been fun. Spoke to my dealer yesterday and they said I should see the car in 10days. I hope. I ordered mine on 5/5/15.

The wife never understood why I was tracking the car but it was fun and something to do whilst I waited for the car to arrive.

Ive ordered mine last year, November 2016 and was informed that there's a 12-15month wait list so ive got plenty of time if i want to change my order  anytime as long as it hasn't been built and ill be contacted prior to it being built for any changes... so i initially ordered the ecoboost without thinking... now im definite that i want the GT but its too late  as my dealer  just rang me few weeks ago that its already been done and aboard CARMEN which will be available in their dealership by 12th of July.... if i still opt to change to a GT, ill be on the last again which will be another 18 month wait....   :tissue:

If my dealer hasn't given me any extra info by the 9 month mark should i call them to see whats going on? Surely within 9 months they'd know at least a little about when the cars coming?

Yes, the Ford data-base should have updated information about the car.

Ordered mine 25 Sept 2015.  Waiting, waiting, nothing!  Go in to dealership to get an update, anything!  I am told the car has been built, awaiting shipping by rail to port?  Haven't I been getting the emails?  What emails?

Anyway, email from Ford arrives next day telling me build has been completed and it will be shipped by rail to the port to be shipped.

So, my advice is to keep on at the dealer until you get some news.  Good luck to all

I'm not surprised, I did not receive a single email from Ford Australia about the build or planned arrival of the car, we did receive the information from our dealer which was good, the only time I heard from Ford Australia was last week after we took delivery, asking how we liked the car, basically a telemarketing call, no apology for taking so long to deliver, just how did we like it.

Pretty disappointing result from Ford Australia, I often wonder if there marketing department really gets it? bit like all marketing departments, hope there is no forum members in marketing

My dealer called me today and told me the Mustang is in and it is scheduled to be picked up on Saturday. Very excited. I'm a little surprised at some of the other comments asking for an apology and saying the dealer didn't keep them informed. My dealer didn't either but I was given a rough idea on a timeline (and I got the email from Ford 8 days after it left Baltimore). It was never going to be quick and thanks to this forum, I was able to track the car myself (half the fun). I think everyone should focus on their cool cars and worry about what they can control - their new Mustang. Giddy up.  :thumb:

I must have the best Ford Dealer in Aust (on the Central Coast NSW) Have been getting updates almost weekly for the last 2 months on how mines going. I was originally told Sept 2016 build, got a phone call and car was moved to beginning of June and a MY17 :pepper: Then the latest call, I was told middle of June, Still very HAPPY :pepper:
I also have been given my NSC & Vin numbers...Vin is on the Fordetis website but hasn't started production yet. All in all, extremely happy with my Ford Dealer.

Your dealer would seem to have a far stronger commitment to customer service than most.... Nice one.
