So after a 14 month wait, we finally picked up our competition orange mustang, Gt 6 speed manual, totally loving it, such an awesome colour.

In the first 24 hours of owning, we've had, love your car, is that a new mustang love the colour, awesome looking car

They certainly attract the attention of other motorists.

Will be 14 months before mine arrives. The wait has taken the edge off the excitement. Got to the point where I really dont care if it arrives or not. Thank you Ford for ruining it for me.

I am new to this forum. I ordered my  Mustang in October of last year. Had a call from Ford dealer this morning, asking if I wanted them to fit front sensors, detail body, leather treatment and tint windscreen etc when car eventually arrives.......about $2600.00  I have never purchased a new car before so I am looking for some feedback / experience.
I have owned cobras and corvettes in the past, so not too worried about cars with long bonnets, but I am not sure about the dealer doing leather, tinting and detailing.
Any thoughts appreciated.  Muz - Sunshine Coast

Politely say no thank you and book it into a professional detailer and window tinter, and then enjoy the $1,500 you've just saved on a much better quality product.

Yep, I agree.

Paint protection glaze, any detailer can provide, window tinting is half the price when getting solatint or the like to do it, leather treatment again not worth it, Ive bought new cars over and over again, and have never found or seen the benefit in what they say they do for the $2600, and as to the front sensors, if your that close to something, go buy yourself some glasses, much better investment

Thanks for your helpful responses Guys. Confirmed my sentiments. I spoke with Rob at Herrod motorsport a couple of weeks back, re supercharger upgrade. He said it may be possible to have car delivered via their workshop..........Could be tempted.  Will think it over while I wait.......and wait !!??    Muz

Here's a link to a pro detail & paint protection using Opti-coat:

http://www.detailparadise.com.au/showthread.php?14355-2016-Ford-Mustang-S550-GT-Race-Red&highlight=mustang

I had Opti-Coat put on my 2015 Mustang the first week I had it, and am as pleased as punch with it so far. Washing is a lot easier, I can get the water to 'flood' off the panels making the drying little more than dabbing with the microfiber.

I use the 2 bucket wash method, and each quarter I apply a new spray sealer over the coating on my wife's car and still has no swirls (fine scratches) after 2 years.  You can also use a blower to dry the car instead of drying towel if you're really OCD  :bolt:

Well finally picked up mine yesterday, long wait but worth it

Had a bit of a fail trying to do the suspension myself (buggered if I can get the two spline strut bolts off, even with a hammer - will regroup and try again later :)), plus is that the new wheels fit well

cheers

Me too.

Impressive.

I have tried that, but find it terribly difficult to get right. The side mirrors make a goose of my drying efforts for hours, even with the blower!
