Thought this would be as good a place as any for my first post.  I have on order a Competition Orange manual GT fastback.  Have been reading posts for quite some time now and it is just making the wait that much harder.  Still to hear when my car is leaving US let alone arriving down under.  Ordered Sept last year and was told I would get it around Oct this year, here's hoping.
Nice colour mate, yet to see any photos of an Aussie one in orange yet, mine should be on the boat or unloaded in Melb as we speak!

There was a bit of a stuff up when loading my mustang on the boat, they loaded it as if the final destination was Melbourne (instead of Port Kembla).

I get the feeling that is not a stuff up, but just the bog standard dumb-arsed way they do it. mine is booked with an FD of MEB as well.........

I am on the Central Coast however mine was offloaded in Melbourne. There were only 24 Mustangs on my ship. The ship docked in Brisbane with other Cargo before heading to Melbourne where my Mustang and 23 others were off loaded. The 24th stayed on the shipped where it was off loaded in Perth. I think it depends on if the ship has cargo to unload in Port Kembla if it stops there.
It was on the wharf in Melbourne on the 21st of January after a few days on the dock it was transferred to the PrixCar Shed Facility in Port Melbourne where they  do the Quality Checks and Customs Clearance on the 27th of January.
It stayed there until the 4th of February and was then transferred to the Prixcar Transport Services Distribution Centre in Altona North Melbourne.
It then left Melbourne on the 8th of February and was unloaded the next day at the Distribution Centre in Arndell Park Sydney. It was then delivered the next day the 10th of February to my Dealer.
There is a good forum for the New Mustang called www.mustang6g.com. It has an Aussie Section that you can join and there are a lot of members who put about posts about just about everything. It was on that Forum that I was able to find out how to track the car once it came into the Country. All you need is you VIN. Hope this helps. The www.mustang6g Forum is great and is only for the new model Mustang.

Finally received a copy of my contract/invoice. The dealer delivery charge is $2,995 excluding GST. Is this average or expensive?

I have read a lot of comments from motoring journalists and forums that have stated we have been ripped off by Ford with the pricing in Australia.  Many saying the price here is $20,000 more than punters pay in the US.  It has been repeated so often that everyone seems to accept it as a fact.  I never felt that we were being gouged and didn't care anyway because I was very happy with the Australian pricing, even though I felt I was gouged a bit on the dealer delivery.

Anyway, I decided to do the math.  I used the US Ford website and configured a GT Premium with Performance Pack, which is roughly equivalent to the Australia specs. The Australian version does seem to have a couple of additional features that have not been included in the US price, but I have noted them separately.

The conclusion is that the Australian price is at least A$5000 cheaper than the US equivalent and possibly A$9000 cheaper if you include the additional extras that seem to be included in the Oz specs.

A couple of caveats:
I have not included any cost for shipping to Australia.
I am not sure if the US price is a drive-away price.
 - If it is a drive-away price it includes some local taxes etc. but remember I have not included any shipping costs.
 - If it is not a drive-away price then the Oz price is even cheaper by comparison.
The USD conversion is 0.72c to A$1
The $5000 cheaper conclusion is based on the original Australian pricing, before the local price increase on 1st Dec 2015.

I am not suggesting the comparison is perfect but it is as objective as I can make it with the information available.  The comparison doesn't really matter because we can't change the local price anyway.  I just wanted to bust some myths.

Austang, you have charged GST twice in your calculations. The price you quoted for the GT Fastback manual is inclusive of GST.

Ours was $995 for dealer delivery.

You'll find there is a fair difference between dealers on this.

Cheers

$1,995 was what my Dealer charged me and they had incorporated a Window Tint and Locking Wheel Nuts plus Coin Cup/Ashtray.

I hope your wait isn't as long as mine. My car was manufactured 10 December 2015 and I won't see it till end of April. But it's luck of the draw. There are cars manufactured after mine that have already been delivered. Yes, that's how organised and sophisticated Ford's inventory management system is.

Well I am happy to report that we picked up our new baby on Friday. There were no problems at all with the car. And it definately is better in the flesh than the photos. On my drive home I made someone stall as they there were too busy checking the car out ha ha  :smile01: Plenty of thumbs up, stares and horns from passer byes. I can't wait to get her out again for another drive. The wait was so worth it  :smile01: Will try to attach photos below (having some problems with photo sizes  :ouch:).
