if anyone is unsure about these LED's, i can vouch for their effectiveness as i saw them on Jeff's car last saturday night at HJ's.
the white parker is good and the amber turn signal is bloody good.  :thumb:

Thanks Jeff. It's on the to do list with putting my car back together. But getting there. This is the first old car I have built and am fast learning how much of a PITA it is to try and change things on these cars but I like doing things 2 or 3 times. Not.

Hi Jeff,

Can you go a bit more into how these are installed? I see you include load resistors, presuming these are to restrict the power going to the bulb? Do these sorts of things have any impact on the fuse box and so forth?

Jeff I'm also interested in buying these I have the Mustang Tail Light Sequential LEDs in my 65 coupe with the new flasher module which work a treat however the front normal bulb indicators flash out of sequence...I have tried two types of LEDs in the front which I was told would work however they didn't....It could be a case I need to swap the wiring around but I didnt want to go down that avenue.

I`m hoping that these will work and if so can I buy a set off you  ...your ebay has ended with the link on here .
My other car is a Mustang ( ok I lied this one cost me enough)

speed
the resistors help put heat into the wire or load, cause the led bulbs are so low in wattage. the old incondescent bulbs run hot and are higher wattage
i've had to do it to my car to make the blinkers work right as they were flashing together and one side was brighter then the other, it will have no impact on your fuse box at all.
you could try the bulbs on there own and see it it works for you, you don't have to buy the kit. check out the other items on my ebay site.

.....the new flasher module

andrew, what type of flasher module did you use,an electronic or standard?

speed, your fuse box etc will not be affected.
if using these led's for front ind/park and keeping normal (incandescent) bulbs in rear, like i have, you only need an electronic flasher unit for both front & rear indicators to flash in sync and regularly. The load resistors arent necessary for this setup. When using the sequential setup i havent got my head around that yet.
i'll let shaunp or boof tackle that one, its still sunday and ill need some of my brain for monday morn....  :thud:

Hi All
you can try the bulbs without the load resistors first.
with my car i had an electronic flasher at first. i needed the load resistors to improve the brightness and to stop both indicators flashing together also one was much brighter then the other. so see how you go.

load resistors emulate the behavior of a incandescent bulb by increasing the load to the relay or something like.
they get hot so don't put on plastic it might melt. not that there is any plastic down there.

Stupid question but electrics are not my strong point: where do you install the load resistors? Just splice them into the positive wire leading to each bulb?

Jeff, Maybe too early in the morning but this doesn't make sense to me.

Here's my theory, happy to hear others:

L & R turn signals are independent of each other so I'm not sure it's possible for both to flash unless you have a short. Parkers on the other hand are NOT independent of each other so the more likely cause is that one of the pins on the globe is shorting the two contacts in the light socket. The turn signal on the suspect globe would flash (bright) as would the parker on the opposite side (not so bright). The original globes from the US have small round contacts where the new ones cover a much larger area. These are more likely to short the pins in the socket. Reseating the globe may temporarily cure the problem. Might need to file a little off the contacts.
Load resistors would not make a globe/LED brighter. My understanding is that they are there to provide enough load to allow the flasher can to operate correctly. If there isn't enough load, the flash rate is too fast which normally indicates a blown globe. Electronic flashers are unaffected.

Evan.

Mine arrived at the Post Office yesterday & I just plugged them in without the load resistor & they work great. Very happy!
