let the games begin
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:15:59 am »
 :omg: just bought the new pony.  she has been to hell and back and it aint pretty.  stripped her down and the floors are rust free. roof is stuffed and will need some work.  picked up 2 x new doors from Hills( thanks brain) and some other goodies. will need to replace the rear quater as it is rusty and dented. i am looking at doing a full Resto mod. All new running gear .that is Coyote engine and gear box out of the NEW Mustang. Full IFS and 3 way rear link. the out side will be stock other than a nice set of rims.
i hope i haven't bitten off to much??????????

I'm no expert, but surely this would affect the metal structure in a way that isn't good.  Are you planning on replacing the whole turret? Every time I hear about a car that's been on fire, they haven't been salvagable.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Check that body out really well.
Fire and body shells don't mix well.
If they used A or B class foam in the water when putting the fire out it is very corrosive.
They tend to go soft and rust from the inside out.

For the people who have an interest in reserecting old mustangs that would have been scraped i would appreciate some help in relation to this drive line im proposing.. :ouch:

Glenn 70.
thank you for the info,the worst rust is in the 1/4 panel which i am replacing, the floors are great as well as underneath. the boot area looks like new. i will be replacing the front cowl and the roof skin as it is dented and has oil canning. Dynacorn make coupe roof skins now. i am going to grit blast the entire car, seal it with epoxy and por 15 the inside.  i want to get rid of the leaf springs.  what would you suggest?  my concept for the pony is simple.
Look like a 66 coupe, drive like a 2014 coupe. :smilies:
