The "Friend" seems much younger, so now she is a Cougar instead of a Mustang.

With the weather today the way it is  I got the Cobra out, dropped the top and went for a run around the block.
Made me feel a bit better.

RE:'What did you do for your Mustang today?'

Ask not what you can do for your Mustang, ask what your Mustang does to you ... answer: the shits!

Went for a drive, and for the third time in as many months she spluttered and died. First issue that needs to be rectified: full service and flush radiator to properly assess possibility of overheating = easy, maybe try the ideas of wrapping fuel line with alloy (heat sink) too?.

The issue today was a blown carby gasket - sucking air like an athlete made her limp home spluttering even after some adjustment. Days like these were made to test ones resolve!

Installed Bilstein rear shocks (from USA) and new KYB Excel G front shocks. Installed myself in 2 hours at home.
The difference in the ride is unreal. So much better...

New Rovos Durban wheels due next year. 10 1/2 inch rears and 9 inch fronts.
Tyres 295 35 18 rear and 255 35 18 front. 23mm offset rims which will fill the guards beautifully.

Current California rims and tyres will be for sale when others arrive.

BIG BOOTS on the ground..... :pepper:
Attached pic of Rovos Durban to fit my guards out..... (Not mine but you get the idea....)

I know what I want to do

New rims period correct looking items but wide and perhaps 17's with white letters on the tyres of coarse

New Ram air Kit I want to see the actuators flip open

my trim needs a bit of attention, like the interior rear quarter panels have been repainted and paints coming of a bit

all in good time  :thumb:

After having a lot of trouble with the brake light switch after the power disc conversion I ditched it for a microswitch mounted on a bracket I made up and hose clamped to the steering column. Brilliant!

Less than $10 in parts (microswitch from Jaycar, hose clamp from Supercheap) plus a little bit of wire and spade terminals I already had and I have brake lights that go on with just a touch on the pedal (about 5mm pedal travel) before the brakes themselves are applied.

is this a common problem, as I have been fighting this same problem. works 8 times out of 10. Had checked the switch and was thinking 51 year old wiring could be at fault

Dr Google indicates we're not alone.

Mine was fine with the old unboosted drums but a switch to boosted front discs made braking a way better experience but the brake lights stopped working. I initially made up a shim for the switch which partially solved the problem but the lights still wouldn't go on until the pedal was a fair way down and the brakes were being applied. I wasn't happy with that  but the real problem was that even this shim caused the brakes to stick on once the fluid had warmed up and they'd been applied a few times.

So I've gone with a solution that takes the original switch out of the system entirely.

I am with you.
Had exactly the same problem,
Did exactly the same fix.
No problems since.

fitted a stereo, under dash inside a shed on a 34 degree day. But now I can listen to something other than that sweet sweet exhaust note.
