If I don't find an original spacer aftermarket will have to do. Rocket ind have plenty. That original 4 blade fan works very well. I have felt the air come through,I couldn't believe it.
Thanks Glenn

Took the girl to another brake "specialist". Maybe they can find why I can't lock the brakes.

New ceramic pads as well as EBC greenstuff pads both improved the feel but not the braking. Boosted pedal still goes HARD before wheels lock but there is still plenty of travel left before mc bottoms out. They are checking the booster first as all else has been replaced.

Washed it, cleaned the white walls and changed the boot lid rubber stoppers, phew, that was a big day.

Also let the wife drive it to the servo, ready for a show tomorrow.

Cheers

Are the brake lines running via the Proportioning Valve, if so you may need to adjust this a little.

The new one looks pretty much the same quality as the original. Being a plastic knob/shaft  apparently it was common for the original ones to break so I'm not sure they were ever a quality part. Don't know why they made it out of plastic in the first place, would have been better to have a good metal piece.

Thanks HEV & GT, was so happy to finally get it out of the shed and wash it. Clean car with the new wheels and it looked better than I could have dreamed.
Picked up the engineers report yesterday and hope to get a blue slip tomorrow.

How did you manage to get the old handle off?
I tried knocking the retaining pin out and it just won't budge!  :ouch:

I don't think it was the original pin on mine as it was a screwin type pin. Just needed an Allen key to unscrew it and take it out.

Could just be the difference between 65/6 and 67/8.
Short of disconnecting the handbrake and putting the handle in a vice I have tried everything I can think of to get the broken handle off to fit the new one...

Got Blue Slip.....Got Rego......Got to go for a drive.

JT, on my '68, it was a push and twist action to remove the handle. Push down and, if mammary serves, twist to the right. I replaced mine (after snapping several) with a chrome T-Bar handle.

jT, was a bugger to get the pin out on our 65. Was afraid of bending the shaft with too much force. Ended up removing the whole unit. Just punched the pin in towards the centre, rather than trying to pull it out. Easy in the end.
