Took the export braces and top shock tower brackets off and got all the daggy old black paint off them.  Someone had painted over the chrome shock brackets, the black came off easily and looks a whole lot better chrome.   :thumb: The zinc(?) coating under the paint on the export braces was a bit pitted so I got the them zinc plated by a friend of my Dad's and they came up nice too.  One day I might add the one-piece chrome export brace to the list of stuff to buy.  Here's a before and after photo ....

Tried to fix the dead fuel gauge so got behind the dash to changeover the Constant Voltage Regulator, no fix as the new one made the fuel gauge work but the temp and oil pressure gauges were no good with the new CVR.
Did find something interesting behind the dash attached to the loom that gave me a bit more information on her.

Went to a mate's place to catch up, decided that I'd take the Mustang because it was such a nice day..
Then washed and polished it ready for tomorrow's Claytons Concours in Bundoora..

... Oh, and I now think the reason the gearbox won't change up into third is because the throttle modulator is sticking at the gearbox end, so it thinks I've got my foot to the floor all the time. Hopefully it should be a relatively cheap fix... When I get around to it... :bolt:

Put my std 14 inch wheels and HUD caps back on my 66 coupe  today ,going to willow bank drags today and want the std sleeper look .  The power cruise in on also at QLD raceway at the same complex and I know the police will be hunting for modified cars . See how my car goes today as I cooked it bad a couple of weeks ago .

I Replaced the fuel sender and found the reason I had an issue with the fuel gauge reading empty.
Was a hole in the float, all good now.

Went to willow bank drags with the car club I am in . We raced from 1 pm ,but it was so hot all the cars were off the pace . I ran 12.1 @ 113mph . We could race later and tonight when it was going to cool down and hope the cars would go a bit quicker but no luck ,we had a thunder storm and the track got washed out .

Took it to a great show at Avondale College. Heaps of cars, bikes and plenty more to entertain the whole family - stalls, food market, pet shows, tenpin bowling, basketball, table tennis, dodgers, slides, pirate ship. - even helicopter rides. Fantastic day. That's the perfect show!

Dumped the coolant in my 66 and pulled the radiator so I can drop it in to get a pin hole repaired.

Checked the battery while I was there, nearly 12 months of not being touched and it's still holding 12v  :thumb:
