My car is back to my restoration mechanic, the drivers door sagged on a hinge and the gap was closing, Even new hinges seem to need to bed in, it seems. Picked up some paint for further touch ups, required to hide my sins from such things as spending hours installing glass to the doors etc. I can't believe the scratches and dents that appear on the car when I have sent it to different places to get worked on. :burnout:

That is one reason I would prefer to do the work myself.... Nobody will ever be as careful with my car as I am...
.... Another reason being that it is far cheaper to do repairs myself than to pay somebody else to do them... As long as I do them properly..

Finally fitted a balance pipe in the exhaust.
Goes a bit better and has taken the obnoxious bark out of it.

With my uni exams over I went for a drive (Wednesday), for the first time in around a month.
Was freezing cold but that's never a concern until I stop driving..

Shouted the '68 coupe a new set of spark plugs. Took the tip from most on the forum and changed out the old Autolite45 plugs for NGK AP5FS plugs. Thought they were made in Japan but says on the box they are now made in Brazil.  :smile01:

Picked it up from the mechanics after finding a couple of oil leaks. Turns out the sump gasket was very loose (I'm not a mechanic so have no idea about this sort of stuff). Best part was he didn't charge me as he just loved having an old V8 to work on for a change.

I drove mine to work and parked it outside my office. One of the panel beaters who refused to work on it when I bought it walked by this morning, I bet he doesn't think it is a write off any more. I love that car.

Filled up the tank and then spent the afternoon trying to get rid of it!
... Only managed to burn 1/2 a tank, so there's more fun to be had on another day..
