Finally picked her up from the painters after some minor repairs (health issues have kept me from getting her for the last month).

She smelt beautiful!

Drained the radiator ready for removal and broke the plastic drain plug at the bottom while I was at it. It will definitely have to come out now just to get the bit of plug out that is stuck in the thread.

:agree:, that sucks. It happened to me once, had to take the radiator to a shop for removal as it wasn't going to budge.
Not expensive, just a PITA.

Spent the morning doing some spraying on another project getting the hang of my new to me, Iwata LPH400, for when it comes time to spraying the 69. Am trying to illuminate as many surprises as possible for when the 69's turn comes.

This arvo I get to practice block sanding.

I drove mine over a sprinkler slowly 4 to 5 times then washed where I could reach to with soapy water then drove the car over the sprinkler another 4 to 5 times then used the hose on high pressure where ever I could reach under the car, by this stage the car and myself are drenched and I proceed to clean the topside of the car when the wife turns up home with the daughter having a good old laugh at my expense asking if I had gotten into a fight with the hose and who won the fight.
Anyway the car is clean from top to bottom now and hopefully no salt residue from being so close to the beach yesterday.

finally finished fitting a Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, bolted her on with ARP polished stainless fasteners, finished the aircon relay wiring and wrapped it with painless powerbraid, polished the compressor and took her for a scream around the block to tune the secondaries air valve to the new intake.
yeah baby this manifold makes a massive difference i tell ya.

Refitted my newly cleaned out radiator plus new hoses, new thermostat housing and thermostat. Successful install, no leaks.

Fitted a 16" Davies Craig thermo fan with temp sensor mounted through radiator under inlet, what a tight fit for the fan.  :smile01: then a run to Newcastle to pick up new seats, overheating all the way home

Air temp was in high 30's and I had to run the fan all the time and the heater on full bore regularly to keep her from blowing her top, not happy, as I wanted to try the A/C.

Off to get my original, blocked, radiator cleaned out, another set of new hoses then remove and replace the current radiator to see if this all helps. Already have 160 thermostat and 50/50 coolant and no signs of bubbles in water so believe head gaskets are okay.

I fouled a lead and plug coming home from The Full THrottle Rod show last weekend and thought I would get some plugs and change the lead.

What a shite fight !! 7/8 came out without too much cursing, the last one was a PITA.
No room to work with, the extractor flange leaves me no room for a normal spark plug socket, had to machine the socket to fit.

Is there something on the market or does anyone know where I can get a spark plug socket for tight spots?

Thanks

I know your feeling GT350H.
I have at least ten modified sockets in my toolbox to cater for all diferrent engine types i have to work on with extractors. Windsors and small block chevs are the most difficult ones due to ther compact designs.
To answer your highlighted question, NO. You have to make your own. The last one I have modified I had to weld a nut on the end of a normal spurk plug socket so I can put a socket on top of the socket.....get it?

Cheers.

Dont know if you can still buy them ,but i use a champion plug ratchet and socket set ,the with a 1 inch extension  ,the end is adjustable and it has a bend in the arm .Great for big block and clevo fitted engines .

Another trick is after you get the plug loose ,take the socket off and get a piece of 3/8 fuel line about 50/60 mm long and slide it over the plug and just unwind the plug out ,helps to not drop it also .To refit do the same until tight then nip up with socket .Can also help to grind around outer edge of plug socket if its too thick ,cheap brands are .

I guess I just don't have the trouble with getting spark plugs out that you guys do... :lmao:

(The engine bay has been tidied up a lot more since that photo was taken!)

Friday morning I swapped the old fan belt which was starting to come apart, it almost snapped when I folded it up to get a new one!
.. Thursday afternoon I got the rocker cover to seal properly before going for a drive
