Received my Hurricane A/C kit to replace the original, leaky, system.

Something to do over Xmas, better than opening Chrissy presents  :smile01:

They were on the car when I bought it but I quite like them. Sort of a modern interpretation of a classic style. The 20s fill my guards well but they do make for a bumpy ride on shitty roads.

Hey 68Coupe, how have you run the power steering hoses from the control valve to the power steering pump? Did you go up the inner guard past the strut tower (close to the exhaust) or under the lower control arm to come up near the oil filter (mine's a 289) and to the back of the ps pump?  My 67 has some made-up hoses that loop down close to the road before going up the back of the strut tower - the hose has scraped on speed bumps etc a few times and one day it'll get bent/busted.  I'm waiting on a reco ps pump and will replace the hoses as well, but some say to run big block hoses forward under the lower control arm then up to the ps pump to get away from the extractors.
Do you have any more pics of how you've run the pressure and return hoses?

Yep, Ken, from the control valve up through the insulator bracket on the lower strut tower, above the oil filter and past the exhaust manifold up to the pump. Hope the pics help. My 289 is completely stock so just followed original installation - no headers, just original exhaust manifold.

Cheers, Andrew

Thanks Andrew.  Mine has extractors which I think makes it a bit trickier.  Not a lot of room in there for clearance.  That does help to see that the hose will route through there. Just hope I don't melt a hose on the extractors at the first turn  :thud:

Cheers
Ken

Decided to replace the hinge bushes and pins and while I had them stripped down, decided to get out the linisher to smooth out the rough casting to a more smoother look. :thumb:

Replaced the heater unit in my sisters 66 LHD coupe yesterday. Original heater core had split and the heater box unit was in a very bad state.
All parts were supplied by Bid Al at Big Al`s Mustangs (02 9622 8289) except for new heater hose, clamps and top up coolant.

Very well packaged and presented unit

Chose the brass core

Brother in-law earnt his keep, glovebox must come out but A/C unit stays

Found original solenoid wiring loom had been very badly damaged at some stage, surprised it hadn`t let them down by now!

Reused an old backing plate and fan scroll on the new fan motor, thanks Big Al  :thumb:

Jobs done after a few hours, just had to bleed the system, top up the coolant and test run  :thumb:

Hey Matt, I don't know about your brother in-law earning his keep, by the look of it I think you would just do what he told you to do.

Good job on the heater box.  :thumb:

Started fitting the new Hurricane A/C unit. All underdash, including wiring, done as well as condenser, compressor and some pipe work.

Now for everyone to get back to work so I can get the hoses fitted and system gassed so I don't swelter during the Elvis parade in Parkes on 11 January.

Replaced the blinker switch in my '66. Old one wouldn't cancel on right turns due to the little arm being broken off as became apparent after the wheel was off. Got lucky and was able to pull the wheel off by hand and didn't have to go buy a puller.

Straightforward enough task but extremely fiddly and not good for the back. Put it all back together and breathed a sigh of relief when blinkers, stop lights and horn all worked correctly so I had avoided the major risk of screwing up the 8 separate wiring connections . Pouring rain outside so jacked up the front to take weight off the steering and tested the self cancelling - all good.

Pretty happy with my day.
