Drove my 66 to "Active Power Steering" to get a reco exchange rack for my VR SS Commodore, sales guy came out, "OOHHHH, is this your run around when your commie is off the road? I expected to see an old corolla".....He remembered me from 12 months ago when I bought a new PS pump, yep, commie is off the road more than on, but with 400HP, it's fun to drive.
If you haven't grown up & matured by the age of 55, (65 now & nothin has changed) YOU DON'T HAVE TOO.....Gary

"quote".

Fitted the '70 fuel tank (22 US gallons) into the '66, along with required filler neck, easy fit, but why do some people use silastic as a sealer around the tank?

Used windscreen sealant so no more acid attack worries.

Now for a new custom made boot carpet. "quote"

be aware, petrol will disolve silicone products!

Not to forget that the acid used to cure most silastic or silicone products leads to accelerating the rusting process. There's enough rust there now.

Reset the base ignition timing.
Should be 30 degrees before top dead centre for an EFI engine.
Had it set for the old carbie engine (loosing my memory as age catches up)
Normal for EFI engines for the computer to advance timing up to 60 degrees before top dead centre.
Goes a bit better now. :burnout:

I took it to a Transmission place to find out why the sump gasket kept leaking. I found out I wasted my time trying to seal the gasket half a dozen time, prior to buying a new chrome sump. The problem is that when I thought the transmission was overhauled with new seals I was wrong. i am now waiting to see if I can get a fix on my c4. As my mechanic tells me "it's all part of the fun." It will be another quiet weekend.
1967 Mustang Convertible with fries and the works, hold the rust, no timber thank you, go easy on the Bondo and I'll have that in Right Hand Drive please.

Filled up power steering again.
Thought we had nearly fixed it but will now put a seal kit through the control valve.
If that don't fix it , off comes the belt again!

Fitted new aircleaner element, went 3" tall and changed the Holley centre thread to allow the upgrade.
Also got stuck into Fitting  the new steering box, and steering dampener unijoint ,
came to a halt when i installed the tilt column and couldnt get it to bolt to the dash ??
dunno,...... how the heck the same bolts i took off didnt go back in,
all because there wasnt a hole ??????, yet the bolts were holding thread between to pieces of the sheetmetal !!
WTF?
thank f we do these things, as we find out what crap wrkmanship had been had, and can fix things properley, and
damn well making them safe ffs.
Im at a loss thinking how lucky my wife and i have been not to have had the original column fall off the dash whilst driving.

sitting here now, shakin me head wishing all our parts shops were open 24 hrs 7 days a week  !!
finish this and then onto the brakes !!

Fixed the transmission leak with a new gasket on the oil pan and changed the filter while I was at it.
Also removed the trunk seal that some goose fitted to the wrong side, will fit new seal to the trunk lid tomorrow.

Hey littlejohn.  I hope you have long skinny hands.  I've had those #%@$# bolts out several times and always curse fitting them back in.  I can just get my left hand up behind the dash near the headlight switch and reach over towards the steering column to find the nuts.  They are captive nuts (held in kind of a slot so they can move forward and back) and ALWAYS slide away from where they need to be.  Persistence with these old cars

Washed and polished mine today. Sacrificed some more skin to the Old Car Gods and donated some more blood while I was at it. I can understand why they moved from metal badges/lettering to stickers these days, although I much prefer the old-school look.

Took the old girl out for a spin this afternoon. My mate's HZ has a pretty hot 350 Chev and leaves me for dead but the Mustang gets all the looks. Nothing finer than a 69er.

Damn thing seems to have developed an exhaust leak which I never noticed until today. Will have to get under it tomorrow and find the source.

Recently I fitted a set of Greens Tuff brake pads, well the last couple of weeks the right caliper was binding but not locking up. Checked it out and two of the pistons,(Kelsey Hayes calipers) one inner and one outer were sticky. I had Greg aka griff come over and help me free them up and gave them a good bleed.
Now I have an awesome pedal.

Thanks again Greg for your help.

two things in your favour machattack:
1. standing still yours looks hotter and faster
2. its a mustang, you dont have to prove anything whereas he will always think he has to.

(oh and, 3: the women factor of course...yeah baby) :evilone:
when a 3 month engine rebuild turns into 3 year bare metal resto.

Doh, master cylinder needs an overhaul as well so won't get it back until tomorrow.

Nowhere seems to have dual master cylinders for drums in stock in the country either :(

I have one that is less than twelve months old, replaced it for a disk brake setup. No problems with it. If interested PM me, price is a reasonable $50
