Got mine out for another run.
Sorted out a few final bugs.
1600 RPM @ 100 KPH that should give some good economy.
With the 5.0 EFI and 95le transmission this thing is creamy smooth.
Wish I had done it years ago.
Peter.

Finished installing the rack n pinion. Everything checked. All fluids checked. Drove down to get my green slip as its been out of rego since November last year. Pass! Head down to the MVR to pay for rego. MVR is closed. I got there at 4:03 and they close at 4 here in Katherine. FECk!

took mine over the pits today - failed as it "had disc brakes and they were not an option on any mustang".   Not overly impressed, especially as the brakes are all stock.  :therethere:

They did pick up a few minor things.

:agree:
I would have thought they'd have had enough Mustangs come through that they'd have an idea of what some of the options were...

Mark from Capital Classics told me about this today...seems that the Dickson guys like to see every car twice.

Couldn't you jump on the internet and prove to them that they were an option?

My '66 has front discs and they didn't question these last month.

Polished it and went for a cruise...
The highway patrol found me again, I wasn't doing anything wrong, they just all think my car is a V8..
It's like they've never seen an old Mustang with P plates before!
Maybe I should look into getting a custom-made perspex hood, so that I don't have to open it every time I get spotted :lmao:

JT, I can lend you my Sound-Racer device that plugs into the lighter and sends a nice V8 sound to the radio from the pulses of the alternator.

I bought it for a mate as a joke, but geez it works great and has a real V8 idle sound.

Haha! They really make those?? :lmao:
Trust me, I don't need it! Doesn't quite idle like a V8, but at low revs you could never tell the difference.
I've been pulled over twice by the Highway Patrol on two separate occasions because they were convinced it was a V8!

The devices are great, you should try one...

And...  as long as the boys treated you in a way you expected to be treated in the circumstances then alls good.  Apparently there are 9000 of them, so only another 8998 to go..

Yeah, they were fine, they just wanted to see the logbook and make sure I wasn't driving a V8..
I think it's pretty funny actually because they've both said the same thing.. "This is a V8 isn't it?"

My '66 has front discs and they didn't question these last month.

Didnt have internet connection there, and once past the entrance, all phones off...  They asked for an engineers certificate, but I debated the point with them, and they changed it to proving it was an option.

They picked up a couple of other minor things - stalling, wheel alignment(radius rod adjustment not tight), rear brake adjustment...  Those three things were items that were suppposed to have been fixed at a local workshop the day before.  Car went straight back and is still there.  Also engine number and p/steer hoses (one kinked).
Sad thing is the car handled better with the NASCAR wheel alignment (drove great straight and turning left; struggled with right turns) than the wandering setup post alignment.

Might not be a bad idea, Paul. I'm into bikes, like you, and before I could afford a Mustang, I made this.

Early stages

A bit further

A bit more

More again

And the end result. I made it for my 2 year old daughter as a rocker. She loved my bike so I made her one of her own in her size.
