After unexpectedly loosing the fluid from the single master a few weeks ago, today picked up the 66 after having fitted dual master with booster, new lower control arms, new wheel cylinders hoses and front drum shoes. What a difference this has made and she now pulls up great, didn't think a car with 4 drums could have such good brakes.

Finally, got the word from the spray painter, towy coming at 4 to take her home and then full steam ahead putting her back together. I am one happy little vegimite.

I gave her a quick detail with the Meguiar's and then took her and the Mrs for a 200K run up the old road and then onto Gosford & up to Toowoon Bay to visit family and then back down the same way, what a great day, great weather, great company and a great car. Lucky for me i was on 60Kph as the highway patrol came around the corner just after the road Warriors cafe.

I've Started putting it back together, putting the guts from the old door into the new door proved quite a challenge for me, you need three pairs of hands and a lot of luck. The next door should be easier with what I've learned from the first one, hopefully, what a dog of a job, I hated that job last night and I still have a few pieces left to install somewhere inside there. Working at night definitely did not help my cause.

New radio (with bluetooth) and a new system recovery radiator cap. Also service and new front brake hoses. All set for a run to the Central Coast.

Put the bottom of the tranmission back on, filled up the fluid, changed the oil & oil filter.

Tomorrow I might actually get to drive her!

Took the girls (car and wife) for a drive to Gunning markets with about a dozen other MOCA (Canberra Chapter) ponies. Great day for a drive.

Thanks, Thursday night until 10 pm, Friday night until 10.30 PM, Saturday night until 12.12 PM yesterday 10 hours and there's not too much to do anymore for some reason, You're right this is the fun part. We can't wait to get that carpet in, the upholstery and the cragars on the wheels.

Guess who's the luckiest kid on the block.

Thanks, more pictures on the way, I worked on the car until 1.30 Am and I was just too tired to take them. I'll take some more during the week.

I went to see my car today, 90 percent finished and that's the way it will stay, mostly my mechanic is off overseas for a month so I'll putter around until he gets bacm and bash the rest of the work in then. I'll post some more pictures soon.

Well paint on the bonnet was getting to me (orange peel, fish eyes, paint on edges down to undercoat, not my doing, etc) so booked in to the painter for Monday week.

While I was at it ordered new headlamp bucket assemblies and hood letters, will bring her back to life.

Next is a new windscreen, if I can get one.  :ouch:

I'm still working on the fixout. The left door is being very tricky and I'm waiting on parts for inside, found out they are on back order today.

Replaced the fuel filter last night, always amazes me how many metal filings and crud builds up in there.

Also placed an order from Mustangs Unlimited for a stock-look Pertronix Ignitor III dizzy, FlameThrower III coil, leads, and relay harness; as well as a new heater core and seals and new lower control arms. *rubs hands*

Had the motor dynotuned.

Found fuel pressure too high and flooding the Holley  :lmao:

Ended up with 152 RWHP, happy with that from a standard 302

I threw my front parking lights in yesterday arvo. Today I organized the local canvas and upholstery business to come and visit the car with me to organize the extra gear I need to get the convertible top in place. This is all very exciting stuff.

Car has been in the shop getting new drum brake kit installed all-round.  Lots of issues with hoses/cylinders fitting (new rear cylinders take hose at 45 degree angle, whereas hard line comes in straight at the moment - very odd.  Must be Falcon cylinders in there as they're the same size as the front), and then turns out all the hard lines were rusted out and snapped when re-fitting.  Waiting for new lines to be made up today, but that should mean all new cylinders can and hoses can be used.

Hopefully will be done today and I can stop safely, and experience what Ray above has after his brake job :)

I called into the car today to see if my air cleaner would still fit after installing the 4 barrel. It was touching the leads coming from the distributor and fouling against the fuel line. Does anyone remember the same problem? Can I just dent the air filter housing back to clearance or should I go for a chrome round restomod version?

Doh, master cylinder needs an overhaul as well so won't get it back until tomorrow.

Nowhere seems to have dual master cylinders for drums in stock in the country either :(
