i went the other way, i went from 17s to 15s as i hated the ride with 17s, but i must admit the bigger wheels look better

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an 67, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on MOCA, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car...................

Got any pics of your car with the new wheels?

I've got repro Style Steels (15") and want to swap them over for something like A/R Torq Thrust IIs or Show Wheels Streeters in 17", maybe 18".. I'll have to see what will fit and look best..
I'm also tossing up between the polished ones or the charcoal / grey, but I want to see them on the car first..

For my taste 18" is 1" too large for a muscle car. But nice car I must say!

I guess I'm a bit old school, but I still prefer the 15's.  :burnout:

I don't mind the smaller rims, so long as they're the right style.
(American Racing, Torq Thrust Ds)
But I prefer them to be a little bigger, 17".. I wouldn't go any smaller than 16"

I'm with 68Coupe. I have 15' superlites on my 68. I was advised not to go larger diameter, or lower profile than 60, because 67/68 chassis are too "soft". These cars were disigned to have side wall movement to help prevent chassis cracking and the bigger wheels with ultra low profile tyres don't provide enough "give unless you soften the suspension accordingly. This is what I was advised, but by all means don't accept my word as gospel. Check with other mustang specialists for further opinions.
Cheers, Ron B

I though of 18 but the profile was getting to small, so I stayed with 17 with a 45 and I feel the ride is OK, didn't think that the difference in the profile would have an affect of that kind on the car

I agree, Glenn70. I'm using 245/60/15's on rear8" and 235/60/15 on 7" fronts. looks good, grips good and rides good.

18's all round for me, 18x9.5 rear with 275x40's and 18x8 on the front with 245x40's
I reckon it looks O.K.

Hi Ron B,
I'm thinking of putting superlites on my 67 coupe. Do you have any side on shots of your 68?
Cheers,Tom

Tom, I hope this works! Not the best pic as is small. I'll try to re-post a larger shot.

I have 17's on my 70 mach 1, crappy ride but look good.

Same with my 65 FB. I may just look into different spring shock configuration or taller tyres, I feel every bump on the road.

Tom, I bought them from Phil Wickham in Cessnock, but as they are made by performer wheels, can be bought through their dealers. Jump online to their website and see the range of colours available. Mine are the classic argent, or bright argent but are  available from chrome to charcoal.

Wantastang (or is it gotastang now??),

I'm generally not a fan of modern large diameter stuff on old cars. In saying that, yours don't look out of place. In fact, I never would've picked them for 18's.

I went for the stock look using 14x6 rims, original '65 caps & whitewalls. The whitewall does a great job of breaking up the big sidewall on these old tyres. You couldn't pay me enough to change this combo as I reckon it suits the early cars to a tee. I don't think hubcaps suit many of the later/larger cars though. I reckon you've chosen well.

Evan

I think all you have to do is go into your profile - then account settings - modify profile and then change your name.  :thumb:
