yeah that's an absolute bitch.... I'd be bloody furious with that. I wasn't using the guard thing nor was I using the handle I was trying to adjust my grip on the body of the grinder, I must have without think brought my left hand up towards the grinder and just like you say bam blood everywhere. Probably didn't help that I was 'juggling' the grinder one handed clasping and releasing quickly to change the angle of the hold I had on it.

Next thing I know i feel pain, ripped the glove off blood everywhere....

Ha, you guys are funny. Don't hands and fingers love to bleed! Most of the time the flap discs or sanders get you and you check to see if how bad it is and all you see is clean flesh or bone. Then the red spots appear, then the blood gushes.

I work at home and work with power and hand tools all day. My wife doesn't even look at me or ask what happened any more. If she hears me walk in the door calling her nurse, she just walks straight to get the first aid and asks how bad is it.  Luckily she is a midwife so has some training and has stuff on hand.

There was only one time when she wasn't here and I nicked a tendon and had to keep pressure on it and walk to the ambulance station, then go to emergency. Climbing the picket fence with no hands was fun  I still have all 10 digits though. Some just don't bend as straight as they used to.  :thumb:

progress for September; put stone guard all over the underside of the body, had fenders & bootlid straightened and primed, pained and repaired hood hinges and boot hinges, started running brake lines, bench bled brake master cylinder and bolted it to booster, painted and fitted door hinges and striker plates. bought 17x7 boyd coddington junkyard dog mags and fitted them with federal 235/45 tyres, cleaned and mostly repainted diff and bolted diff, springs and shocks into the back end. Also found out bonnet was completely stuffed frame ben sjin stretched so will be looking to get a new one in October.

It has been a while since my last update but since then 80% of the body work has been done. Just needs to go to the local body shop to have rusty rear quarter sections cut out and new sections welded in. This will happen in mid January.

Meanwhile I bought a 302 shorty from JT's in Melbourne, carted it up to Wayne Reid in Cowra. Wayne has bored it, honed it, chemically cleaned it and ordered rings, bearings, gaskets and piston kit for it.

Not sure about the end of January to be up and running, but I think it could be close...  :leaving:

p.s. and after all that work on the bonnet and the run in with the grinder I had to buy a new hood anyway; the frame was bent and the skin stretched... whaddaya do?

While the engine is being built, and the gearbox checked over I've been working on some surface rust under the parcel shelf. I also had a look at the alignment of hood and trunk lid. might be a little tight on the left side for the hood but I'm sure the body shop can work that out.

Rust removal and new sections will be welded in , in the next week or two followed by paint, here's some pix. Sorry the quality is crap iphones...don't you love them.

cheers,
Anfo

test fitted the carb and the shaker today, looks like everything will clear, and the car itself is in the body shop having the rust work in the rear quarters and the filler panel cut out and new sections welded in. More photos soon.
