Hey Anfo I feel your pain it wasn't that long ago we started on ours but we put the car under the patio as I didn't have a garage either but finally realised I needed one for when I started putting things back together you don't want the rain ruining things and believe me rust starts real quick even one droplet of sweat can start a panel rusting as I found out the hard way
Good luck with it I will be following this thread, take plenty of pictures along the way as you will need it for reference when you start the re assembly process

Cheers. Chris

thanks guys the carport will be delivered on wednesday 22/5 and the concrete crew isn't far away. I guess that after next weekend it will be at the sand blaster, then off to the body shop for rust repairs and undercoating if they have it for two or three weeks that will give me time to get the carport up and I'll also buy some tarps to make the area 'waterproof' and will be able to start reassembly. once it's driveable back to the body shop to get top coated.

It looks like it has taken a hit in the back end, make sure you get the body shop to check body alignment as well.

in recent weeks we've had a lot on since the last update we've put up a carport, cleaned out the garage (so we can keep her dry while she's in primer), built a dolly to move her into said garage,  moved her into the garage - in the rain - that was hilarious! Stripped some, well lots of parts and weather permitting we go to blasters on Friday 2 August. Here's some pix.

My WONDERFUL wife Rowena has been at it again helping me strip doors boot lid and the interior bits.

and the last few pix; the grinder that was my best friend today and two definitely burnt out cup brushes and one almost burnt out cup brushes that I used to clean up the parts with. Some parts i need to put in the blasting cabinet to cleanup the areas I couldn't get to with the cup brush... might do those tomorrow... hmmm.

Shane,

Yep I laughed at it too after a while, but she's bloody fantastic as she had no brothers growing up she learned to work around the house and doesn't mind rolling up the sleeves and getting her hands dirty!

Cheers

Looking good anfo,
this is the dirty side of the job and it seems to take forever but just keep chipping away at it.  It took me nearly 3 years to get mine done and there is still somethings I want to do, but have to get some money put away first and for now I just want to get in it and drive.
My wife was also very involved in the build of our car, so handy to have another set of hands and free labour at that, but now she wants to build another one but a convertible this time but for now that is on the backburner I just want to enjoy the one we have
Cheers. Chris

I was worried about the right rear quarter there was some indication of rust near the wheel arch and wrinkles right at the back but it came out alright. I have a patch panel for it, but it lokks like I don't need it...

the first 3 pics are etch primer in the paint booth and the fourth, drying some bits in the sun

the battery tray some front end bumper brackets, left hand shock tower cover and rear leaf springs. I am very pleased with how the leaf springs came up, they were covered in filth and surface rust from the years, but with some patience and a couple of flap discs and coats of paint they look pretty good, even though I say it myself.

engine mount before cleaning, diff half way through cleaning, fender outside cleaned fenders inside with surface rust before cleaning. Careful with that axe Eugene! Ok so it was a grinder and a flap disc across my left index finger 2 stitches ouch, still a little tender to touch one week on but ok.

ok so here's the violin  :nopity:

so after cleaning up fenders, and the bonnet ( which I did the finger on the flap disc ) the boot lid fenders bonnet, quarter panel extensions are down at the smashy's shop getting etch primed. Meanwhile in the garage I fitted the front brakes, springs, shocks, control arms and tower caps and one tower cover. Feels good and starting to come together. Next weekend off to sydney for a crash course in bogging sanding and painting... then we can roll the sleeves up and start the body work.
