My 50cent problem.
« on: May 17, 2012, 11:59:28 am »
Hi All,

Lost lights on the instrument panel of my 65 coupe. Found a blown fuse. My initial response was "good that’s an easy fix", however i am struggling to find a 2.5amp fuse anywhere. have found on ebay but a little reluctent to pay $15 delivery from overseas for a simple little fuse. Anyone had the same problem and if so where can i get one locally (based in Sydney -West) ?

I too had a problem finding a correct 2.5 amp fuse.  I think I found the correct fuses at fuseco.com.au  (Had to buy 10 though).
If it's worth owning, it's had a song written about it.

Why don't you get a 2.5amp Mini blade fuse and solder it to the old fuse
easy fix.

I did that......I folded the blade terminals over flat & soldered it to the old glass fuse......job done, also makes it easy to push in & pull back out.:thumb:

Thanks for the tips guys. Ill drop a line to the places mentiond.
If all fails i love your idea Moz.
Hertz- just to clarify, did you solder the blade fuse onto the ends of the old dead fuse? Great idea, saves me pulling the fuse box out to solder..

That is correct
and it is easy to pull out holding the Blade fuse.

If you have a Jaycar Electronics near you they stock 2A or  3A fuses. I would be comfortable going to a 3A, he'll I've used the foil out of a smoke pack when I was desperate.
