Hey Guys,

Here is a tough one for you. these batteries have long been discontinued, but does anyone know the dimensions of a Group 22 Autolite battery?

I was given dimensions of a battery that was significantly smaller than a group 24. i am just wondering if its possible they stuffed up their dims, or if its actually a group 22.

i'm hoping its the later, but i can't find anything to confirm...

Cheers,

Tim

OK - Confirmed on delivery - its not a Group 22 battery.

I have what seems like a Group 24 Autolite Original Dealer Display Battery, complete with original tags.

Very nice!

can someone confirm the serial number on the top of the repro covers? i keep seeing the numbers starting at 103. mine is definately different to that.

Its got no internal components, its a display only battery, with some small red paint drips on the top "AUTOLITE" script.

think i just picked up a nice addition for my collection!

i was looking at this battery again today and confirm its not an original autolite. i didn't read the bottom...

It is a Newcastle Battery mfg battery, dated 1993.

i am trying to research these batteries, as i can only find info that they started producing working batteries in these moulds around the 2003 mark? did they release these fake batteries in the 10 years prior to that?

i did read that the business changed hands and then the new owners went out of business, so its a little difficult to get good info.

i know that people used to use hollow out batteries and sit new batteries inside them to make them functional. was this one of the shells they used?

anyone have info on the early repro autolite batteries?

After a discussion on another forum, we have identified the battery to be a Dealer Demo/Display from New Castle Battery Mfg who made the first reproductions of the battery.

Although its not a true Autolite (or a real battery), it must still be quite Rare.

here are some pics -

if you have problems viewing it... i'll be sticking them on photobucket later. can't access that at work
