It's Saturday night and I'm pissed, you know what that means...nostalgia time:a. Remember when you had to buy( self serve )petrol at night and you had to put 20 cent coins into a box with those vertical lights to purchase the petrol. Or milk which came in glass bottles with the foil lid. Or those stickers "I like Swipe":w Still don't know what that was. Tupperware of the early 70's perhaps?

not quite as old as some,
but I remember when Coka-cola was 70cents a can in a vending machine, and $1 would buy a paper bag full of lollies at the corner store, enough for me & my two sisters to make ourselves sick with.

and my bicycle was a genuine BMX, not a "mountain bike"
I had records (just) - cassettes were the new big thing.

and perhaps most telling of all, I was into computers before they came packaged with modems! (only uni's used the internet back then!)

I remember the days when you could buy a good nutritious lunch from the school canteen for about 20 cents. Pie with sauce, jiffy doughnut and a Sunny Boy.

Evan.

Canteen? Tuckshop man:+ How about marbles and the whole playground would be full of circles scribed into the ground, Stonkers... funsies or keepsies. A salad roll for 10 cents and a cup of cordial for 5. Remember those red paper poppies you had to buy on Armistance Day, or was it Anzac?

I'm old enough to remember going to Warwick Farm to watch Norm & Big Pete do battle with Bobby Jane-Entry was 2 bob (20 cents), & entry into Fairfield Hoyts was 6 pence or a bob for dress circle. When I got my first car (datto 16) petrol was 36 cents per gallon.

.......back when......

BMX's were new, only the rich kids could buy them
a 3 speed dragster was still a cool bike

The advent of the VCR, and camera (my uncles camera setup was about 20kg!)

John Lennon was still singing live...

you could play in the front yard under a sprinkler

lawn edge triming was done with hand trimmers...

Waaaay back when I was young,(and this is totally true!), us boys weren't allowed to wear long pants to school until we were 10 yrs old! It was enough to freeze our kneecaps off, because winter seemed colder back then. No wonder we grew up hating the sodding teachers! And then there was the compulsory milk drinks each morning. 1/2 the time the milk was going off by the time the "milk monitors" got it down to us, but we still had to drink it!
