The weather from all reports look like light rain early Saturday morning.

So racing is on.

Thirsty we have a how to class for free on how to drag race!!!

It’s on at 11.45 in the club lounge at Calder and tells you what you need to race.
Helmets can be hired on the day for $25 or you can buy an ex rental one for $90.

You will need long sleeves shirt long pants and covered shoes.
Free to race for all paid up members or you can kick back and display your car and go into the draw to win one of 4 trophies.

See Calder web site for what your car needs eg no lap sash seat belts (must be a 3 point modern belt), no oil leaks, must have an over flow catch can on the radiator. These will be looked at on the day and will be enforced.
So if you want to race go to the web site and look at what’s required please.

No Burnouts in the car park guys and girls or you will go home early. Its all about having fun not being idiots.

  Check out      calderpark.com.au   for details

Ring me (Ian MacArthur) on 0910 0800 if you have any questions.:burnout:

The Mustang day is incorporated into Calder's normal street drag racing day.

Gates open at 10am for display cars.

Street cars and bike race from 12.00 until 4.00 and then from 4.30 its comp cars and bikes until late or how many cars are left on the track.
We also have a stunt bike rider and you will get to see not only some very nice Mustangs but also GTs ,Monaros, ect we even had a Ferrari here at the last drags.
Its a Huge day and its all FREE only if you are a paid up member.
So don't forget your Lanyards .
No up to date lanyard no free entry.
If you come in your Mustang you and every one  else in the car gets in for free.
If you come in your normal transport you only get your self in for free. You must also park in the general entry car park.

You can see the drags a short walk form the display area which is

Kids under 18 are normally free any way.

Call me if you have any questions.

Cheers

Its good to hear that you have to have a lanyard to get in as a Mustang MOCA member.

I've heard that those that try to get in that aren't, will be photographed and rego taken by security and reported to police.   Its an "obtain finacial advantage by deception", the same as theft.

No current lanyard, no free entry.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an 67, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on MOCA, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car...................

So who got the fastest time ?

Seemed to between BLKPNY, the other black 65/66 and the red 65/66 with the big scoop on it .

Cheers,
Frank.

Thanks.
Its taken a year to get this car running right.
I got it back Friday night and my mechanic fixed what no other could in the last year.

When I drive it home, it is now an easy cruiser motor.
Idles nicely, and is now a pleasure to drive.
For the first time Saturday morning, I touched the accelarator once to start it and walked away to warm it up.
I used to have to feather the pedal for a good 5 minutes.
I was told by one mob in the last year to buy a new motor, the cam was too strong and so on and so on.

The guy who finally fixed my car looked at the cam spec's and said he's seen bigger cams in a lawn mower.

All I wanted was it to run smooth and be nice to drive.
But to hit the 12's on the quarter surpised the crap out of me. Simply put, the motor is running "happy" finally. Its hard to explain in words. The best way to sum it up is to say it feels "light".

Frank, from what I saw (which wasn't much as I ran 13 times) it looked like Rod in the black 66 SMOCUM pulled an 11.01
I think Steph and BLKPONY may have run an 11.1 ?

My best was 11.30. I have the black 66 GT 066.

It was a great day. Good weather and lots of runs. Just that
Pro start Xmas tree takes some getting used to !
One amber then green. It's much harder to get the R/T right than ambers all the way down.

Yep! Sure did.... Twice!!
To say I'm happy is an understatement!
My previous best was 11.11, with a 1.59 60' time.
This time, we did 2 10.97's, with a 1.59 60' time. My first pass was a 1.55 60' time, but a 11.03. There was a little wheelspin on all runs except the first, which we didn't used to have. I am thinking of swapping out the 20-40 year old leafs, and shocks, and fitting some new stuff, and a set of traction bars. I might even be able to stall it up a little, at the moment I leave from idle. If I can get it doing 1.55 60' times, or less with some stalling up at the line, it could go faster. I also have a pretty safe amount of timing in it, so I can advance it more, as well, on a nice day.
I think a 10 second pass, with the aircleaner fitted, is the next goal.
If I can fill it at the servo in Carrum Downs, drive out, adjust tyre pressure's, without touching ANYTHING, and run a 10, it would be pretty special!

A big thanks to my brother at CVE Performance, for a killer engine combo.... the best of both worlds, I did 5 passes in 1 hour, then decided I probably should let it cool down between runs!!

Congratulations Steph !!
10 seconds is a milestone.
i think you'll find stalling the converter up will give you a slower launch though. They seem to work better if you hit them hard from 1000 rpm. That flashes them over the stall speed slightly.
If you ran a higher stall converter you would drop 10ths I reckon.
Smocum was running a 5400 rpm stall and ran 1.50's 60 feet.

This to be the best display and race event the club runs.  Again. good work to those involved.

I might have to fit another set of belts and give my old girl a flex next time ..  :burnout:
