Congratulations. How did you go with the engine number?

Thanks Gents.  As previously stated, i'm very happy it turned out as advertised / stated.

Seemed black was quite popular with the fastbacks at today's show.  That black 66 Hertz fastback was sensational.  Anyone know if it picked up any awards?  I had to go early and missed the presentations.

Ponyride, couldn't locate a engine number so had one issued/stamped.

Hey Yellow66 that beast is phat! It is screaming for new tyres, the TAs will be a handlful in the wet I reckon!
Hmm  not that you are going to be driving it in the rain on purpose I s'pose.
I wonder which one you will cruise in the the yellow or the black  :drunk::drunk:

Thanks Chello.  It won't be on those wheels/tyres much longer - am waiting on my 17x8 and 17x9.5" Torq Thrust 11's to arrive.  It will only be driving in the rain if i get unexpectedly caught out.

I've had the yellow coupe for 11 years so now that i have a new toy, it might not see too much daylight in the coming months.  Black it will be :hammer:

Was it a random number they issued or was it related to the VIN? Was that after or before the blue slip inspection they gave it to you? And where did they stamp it on the block? I'm pretty certain I'll be travelling this road also.

Cheers

Is yours a replacement engine Ash or do you think it's original? Think carefully about any new stampings, that could be a very valuable motor you have if it's original to the car. I know it's a pain trying to find them though.

That's a good point. I don't think it is the original block even though it is a virgin bore with virgin crank. I do have a folder with all the previous owners receipts so I'll read carefully through them to see what I can find.

I really want to spend my time getting things right before I get it on the road. The engine is really putting out some good power and needs some fine tuning so that'll take some time. But I'll take your advice and do my homework on the block before I proceed with anything like this.

Did you have to change the rear tail lights at all for NSW rego or were you able to leave them flashing red?

Finally got around to taking an updated pic.  The car has been lowered at the front and has new wheels.  Thanks to Darryl (MustangNut) for fitting the steering and suspension kits. rear leaf springs and a handful of other small jobs.  Note that the concrete in the pics is sloped and makes the car look a little lower at the front than it actually is, and a little highter in the back that it actually is.  May have to get out again and take a decent pic :smile01:

Very nice indeed. Love the 390's. I have been thinking of repainting mine in Raven Black or Acapulco Blue (not a huge fan of green). I have two other black cars and they are a nightmare to keep clean - but look fantastic.

Hope to see yours soon. Here's mine (note the side scoops, mirrors and front valance have now been painted to match the car).

Boss69hogg, that green looks great on the Mach 1.  I'm not usually a huge fan of green but that and the grabber green really suit the '69/70 mustangs.
Will tell you what everyone told me - steer away from black.  Looks great when clean but is dirty 10 mins after you clean it.

Hi Yellow66, How's the 69 going? Been clocking up some miles? The 66 still get out just as often?
Mine has taken a step backwards so am living vicariously through yours this morning :smile01:
I'm really eyeing off your colour combo, it's got me thinking things I shouldn't be. I really don't need more to do to mine but looks like I'm a fair way in now, why not a little further?:banghead:
