Ever since I was a little kid, all I have ever wanted is a 69/70 Mach 1. Well, this week I flew to the USA, met up with a guy who I had been talking to for a few months, and purchased his 69 Mach 1 R-code 428 Cobra Jet with a 4 speed close ratio transmission and 3.91:1 traction lock diff.

Today it arrived in Los Angeles where I met the truck, gave it a wash and left it at the exporters. I'm so happy with my purchase, I can't describe it the feeling. It's the one and only car I have ever really wanted and the one car I will never sell. EVER!!

Here's some pics of it during the purchase process:

The pics that were emailed to me when I found it

Getting in it for my first drive in Louisiana

Coming back from the drive

It loaded up to go meet the truck for delivery to Los Angeles

Going onto the truck to make the journey to L.A.

After arriving in L.A. and giving it a wash

Now I just have to wait for it to arrive.

No import approval yet, should be maybe 2 - 2.5 weeks off, hopefully.

Thanks stang8! It's been a long time coming. And if it wasn't for the current strength of the Aussie dollar, I don't know if it ever would have happened.

Very nice Ash. Is that Acapulco blue? Nothing tops the R code for fun, what a beast it is. I'd put the hood pins back on though! :rub: Enjoy.

Love the 69 shape. Now that's what I call a muscle car.....awesome!

At least you could of shaved for the pics. The car looks great and you look sleep deprived as if you've gone straight from the night club in the early hours of the morning to pick up your car - what's do'in? :smile02:

Thanks everyone!

I don't tend to shave very often, maybe once a month on average. So that is me pretty clean shaven. But as for sleep, what the hell is that? I have no idea what day or time it is. I didn't sleep on the 14 hour flight to LA, got next to no sleep the first night here either. Then flew out the next on tow flights which took all day to get to Alexandria, Louisiana. We then drive an hour to where the car was. Spent the next day test driving and organising the paper work, had that sorted then towed the car 2 hours south the following day. Spent the afternoon waiting for the truck to pick it up then flew back to LA that night. Had one day to do not much which we spent most of getting stuffed around with hire cars. The next day, I think, the car arrived, the today we fly back to Aus. We literally haven't stopped, I'm absolutely stuffed!

I went to California Mustang parts on Thursday and bought a few things including a new rear window louver. It's comign back in the container with the car.
I went back there again today to pick up a new set of bonnet pins and straps. Will install them when the car arrives.

And yes, the colour Acapulco blue:thumb:

Cheers, am off now to catch a V-Australia plane to sit on for 15 hours or so:banghead:

Beautiful car.

Can't get over the way they stack the cars on that transporter.
That Rangie looks like it would fall off at the first decent bump.

Glad to see it made it LA OK.

Cheers,
Frank.
