Don't you hate it when you lift your carpet and underlay and find the build sheet ............................. only to find it looks like this after 40 yrs ? ;}

This has been some discussion here about how to restore the build sheet. You soak it in something and it comes up a treat.  Just can't find it.

That's amazing! Good find seany-boy, hope you can resurrect it. Slight hijacking but still relevant - assuming you can resurrect the build sheet are there any known ways to preserve these things so they don't deteriorate any more?

I have one on the way and want to keep it well.

Get this sort of stuff encapsulated ( laminated on 2 sides).This stops further oxidation and damage. Get the flexible version done. Some of the encapsulations are too rigid. Try Allkotes in Vic or NSW.

cheers, i will have a go and post any result. I have not tried to lift it off the floor yet as it was stuck and obviously brittle,  so assume I can use the prepsol to soften it and try to lift it?
