Rather than clutter up the thread in the WTB section I'll start a new post here. So.... Phil when you say there's a shortage any ideas why. 10 odd years ago I heard that US owners were reluctant to sell to overseas buyers(urban myth perhaps) but they seemed to be very plentiful then.Didn't Avis or Budget import a shedload for their rental fleets? Or worse still, are they all being crushed due to anti-cluncker legislation.

Not in much relation to much of which has been discussed, but I know of a 1965 convertible for sale in the USA at the moment, my uncle has it, it has had a ground up rebuild, and he has had it for 30+ years. I would buy it, although the boss says 2 is enough !!!
