Grain on inner door skins
« on: August 05, 2005, 04:37:45 pm »
Can anyone recommend how to keep the original grain on the inner door skins on a 68? They have surface rust on them and i have a feeling that plastic media blasting them will strip that original grain off.
Any ideas? Chemical stripper?

Thanks in advance.

when my 66 was done they sand blasted them to get the paint out of the grain. the rest of the car was chemical stripped. just make sure you choose a good operator

I just used a chemical stripper and steel wool. The grain is pretty deep and I doubt plastic media will harm it.
