Correct Height Of 67 Fastback
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:08:08 pm »
Can anyone tell me what is the correct wheel arch height from the bottom of the tyre to the wheel arch on a 67 Fastback on 14 inch rims? Thank you, Lea.

How long is a piece of string?? Too many variables. Tyre size, rim size, spring height, spring age, shocker type, shocker age the list goes on..

Thanks Mustang Nut but what I was after was what would have been the standard when the car rolled off the production line. I have just purchased a 67 Fastback and removed the pump up shockers on the rear and replaced them with standard but the car sits up way too high so obviously someone has altered the springs. I would like to return it to its original height. I think I will wander around the next car show with a tape measure.

Find a car that has the look you want and go from there.

The usual distance from the top of the tyre (standard 14" crossply), was around 2.5-3" (63-75mm) to the wheelarch.

Most cars sagged after a few months driving, so the rear was lower than the front. That is why you found so many air shocks fitted. If that is something close to what you have at present, that would be standard height.

Yeah, the 51.8" height would help. Great research :(

Thankyou, MustangNut, ozbilt and 66 Emberglo Coupe, some really helpful info there. I think I need to get the springs reset because my FB sits higher than that, either that or throw 4 bags of cement in the boot. The car is in the work shop at present having a resto so I have time to get this right, thanks again for your help.  I will post some photos before, during and after, regards Lea.
