Hey guys have plates now and fitted them.

Ended up with slimline plates.

The back were an easy fit (just had to create two new mounting holes in plate) but the front plate had to be fitted using a bit of rondo mounted to the hood release bracket behind the valance panel.

Now I guess I just wait till I get pulled over for having the front plate in a position not visable by Mr Plod.

+ 1 day and counting....

I think it is $350, maybe $750 fine in NSW plus a few points.

Constable Plod does not always enforce the law but they are getting nasty when they want to.

Ask StangLover about his experience here, I believe he was pinged on the day his Eleanor was registered ... no leeway given to getting home and affixing correctly.  Not happy Jan!!

Nice car so maybe they will be turn a blind eye.

Put a bracket on the front bar that is hinged. When you are driving the wind will lift it & when you are pulled over there it will be for all to see....:(

Nice looking Nag, surprised you haven't got rhs mirror on being left hook..... its the first thing I had to do then the lights for rego

Hey j1,

;z With such a good loking car, I'd say that you are bound to get "pinged" ...

Might have to make up a bracket to bring the plate down 30mm or so and forward  - flush in line with the valance. Will save you bucks for sure ...

When done, take it to your local "rozzer shop" and seek their agreement ..... they wil welcome your keeness to ablige by the laws ..

Car looks great, shame to ruin smooth lines of the front with the plate.  I'd move it too though,  the fuzz just doesnt have a sense of humour about this.
Decals are no good either in Vic anyway, plenty of MX5 guys got done for this a while back when these were popular.  Doesnt seem to bother the Porsche guys, guess they just cop the fine.
Must be an official plate and clearly visible. Cars going to attract too much attention to get away with it for very long, just need one jealous copper to ruin your day.

oops.......forgot to crop.:_

But this is what you'll be looking at roughly for not displayin the plates correctly, notice the 3 demerit points that go with it.

This was 3hrs after I had just picked it up on the first day ::

Hmm...

wondering if I should pop down and see Captain Plod at the local and ask him.

I guess they are going to see my car a bit more often on the road now.

Well, have been down to see Captain Plod at the local and he loved it ( the car, not the plate).
He said 90% of coppers wouldn't have a problem with it as it's not a ricer and as long as your not driving like a tool they won't bother you in such a "fine looking car".

It's the rear plates that need to be clearly visable as that is what most coppers see when they pull you up and do a rego check on you.

It's just when Senior Constable TOG (Traffic operations group) pulls you over to fill his books that he may do you over. He said, just see if you can lower in an inch or so and you'll be right.

Told him about you Bas and he replied saying the copper must have been a D ick....

:w:w:w

Now, lets see what I can do about lowering it.

J1

Stanglovers plates are now clearly visable. Now that he has his personalised ones they are fitted where they can be seen. I didnt take a pic when it was back here, so Bas you will need to get the camera out:(
