back to basics... changing wheel studs
« on: January 25, 2010, 12:30:00 pm »
hi guys,

a while back i got a pair of second hand original discs to replace my pair as one face had been torn to shreds (3-4mm grooves!).

the newer set had rusted threads on must studs, my old ones were much better, so i knocked the old ones out to put mine in.

is there an efficient way of getting these studs back in? i seem  to have them in some of the way, but i don't see them moving any further no matter how hard i try.

any tips?

If you have some steel wheel, wheel nuts, put them on backwards (with the taper on the back, not the front) and rattle the studs home, then undo the nut.
Don't use a mag nut, or the taper, as you need a nice flat surface to pull the stud home.
