The  new owner of Ferry rd Burgers [ in the supercheap shopping complex Ferry Rd Southport] is very supportive in having a LA style car cruize-inn.

Our club [gold coast musclecar assoc inc] is having a "trial run"  with the owner this Friday nite from 7pm. Getting the word out and the owner is keen
He is looking at maybe a LA style trophie presentation in the future if things can get rolling along with numbers.
This is what we have wanted on the Gold Coast. Something along the lines of Munchies and the past Harry's Diner.
There is parking for 188 cars so the venue is right!
Come and support this if you have a few hours free.

No skids, no tossers, no alchohol. We want this to work without hassles

 cheers Dave

This needs to happen in Melbourne where there is an abundance of cars and clubs that would participate regularly.
Somewhere around Glen Waverly or a bit further east or south. Maybe one in the north or west too.
Suggest great coffee and shakes as well as quality fast food. Option of sit down in diner or for a small surcharge delivered to parking bays.
Music , not too loud, and from the era of the cars; ie 50s 60s 70s.
Who's gunna do it??
How about "The Classics Cafe" as a name?;)

We talked to the owner about it and he was mad-keen.
We did the Fri nite as a low key event so he could have a 'trail run' . Looks to be a family business and he was stoked to say the least.
We approached this venue as it's away from the mainstream traffic, although on one of the Gold Coasts main roads so ezi to find, and has plenty of parking with no other shops eg video outlets  etc that may be effected b overcrowding of the parking lot.

Hopefully all will go well here and we can keep any trouble-makers away. The Goldy has plenty of nice cruizers and high end cars parked in garages just looking for an excuse to be driven & seen

Heres hoping that it works anyhow..

 laterv  Dave

MATE ! I will be there with bells on when im back from the USA (keep it rolling until March please haha) - I'm sick of idiots wrecking good car meets by ripping skids, getting pissed and leaving the venues trashed - in fact it makes me ashamed of my generation that are the main offenders :[

looks like a top night and what a great idea. The guys get some really cool exposure and some god $$$ through the till.
Junior i find that its the clowns in the standard wanna be hot rodders that cause most of the drama"s was the same last night with Nats. These clowns in there stock cars with a big boom boom cruising up and down with the street machines. Dont get me wrong some clowns with street machines to but not the ones with the real classic's. Its always the fringe element or the wanna be that cause the problems

just my 2 cents worth, off my box now :w

hahaha. down boy  .

we all enjoy to hear the rumble of the engine etc . but some certainly take it too far to the point of endangering innocent bystanders because they plow through a crowd attemption to do a skid. --- thats what gets on my goat !  I for one will agree that it certainly is the "wanna be's" that cause the negative attention that impacts everyone else.

I experience it with my bike clubs too - we all enjoy a squirt through the mountains on the weekend. But it takes but one wingnut to weave through the highway at 300+km/h and ALL bike riders are classed as "idiots" .

If I really want to push it, I take myself up to willowbank and QR for a day :(

 - Be good to actually meet some people in the real for once down the coast when im back from USA. !

cheers,
junior

Yes I agree jusTANG.
Victoria has these wannabe's too.
Hate it when the doof doof brigade turn up in their Falcodores or WRX's and want to exhibit at classic and muscle car shows.
When they dont get in they mouth off and rip off a side ways, sliding getaway, accompanied by even louder doof doof noises.
I am totally over these goons and have no problems telling them, their type aren't welcome!::

On again this Fri nite [ and every Fri nite ]

Last Fri there were 40 cars or so. Mostly from the Gold Coast but a few from Brisso checkin it out. Word of mouth is getting the message out.
The diner had extra staff on, good food and some meal deals were avail for the car guys. Most cars are gettin in around 7pm until 9pm-ish. The owner is installing some flood lights also to light up the car park somewhat.
All good so far so good. Worth a look as we are getting good cars cruizin out of garages that havnt been seen for a while - if at all!

later  Dave

" Where are all ther Mustangs on the Goldy ?? "
Dave , get onto Wayne ( forum user name  FPV ), he is the run director for the Pony Car Club, they have 220 members , all types of muscle cars , email him & ask him to to email all 220 members with info about the
" Ferry Rd Cruise-In Burger Joint " as a lot of their members never go onto the forum , or email me the info & I'll ask Wayne to do it.
Hope to get up there myself this friday night ,
                                                                  Cheers Nifty

Hey, saw you leave!. Just got back home. Good turnout again. Maybe 70+ cars?
All good, no aggro n plenty to check out.

Im workin out a monthly Sunday breakfast TBA by the Diner owner but will pass it on via the website.
The Harley Davidson shop want to promo a Sat show n shine sometime. Any interest?
Nitro mag owner John came up for a look so we may get some coverage in the mag in the future. He's a Goldy local and was scouting for feature cars. All positive so far.

Yeah Dave , it was a top night,  & a top spot for a muscle car nut on a Friday night.
The food was great , as was the companey , even if you had to wait a while for you burger, so what !!  there was a lot of people there & you can tell the owners from me & the other Pony Club/ MOCA members who were there Dave , We think the owners & staff did a great jod , Well done.
Just hope it stays muscle & classic ,   & good to see a couple of "P" plates on some of those classic cars !! ,you don't have to be old to own one !!.
Also the Harley D shop Show n Shine mate , Yep sounds good to me.
And the Sunday Breaky mate , good stuff, keep us posted .
I didn't get to catch up & meet you last night Dave, I'll try next time , cheers Nifty.

Has anyone got contact details for the Diner?
Thought we could organise a MOCA Qld cruise for a Sunday and see if anyone else would be interested in joining us.
We normally get 20+ cars but I'm sure the Gold Coast members would turn up in good numbers.
A phone number and name would be handy.
Thanks,
Bob
