State Labor has snubbed 100,000 Queenslanders who’ve called for a review of the registration hikes that have made Queensland the dearest state to register a car.
Deputy Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg, who tabled the 100,000 signature petition in parliament calling for the review, said Transport Minister Rachel Nolan and Labor were snubbing their noses at 100,000 Queenslanders and one of the largest petitions in the State’s history.
“She’s told all those Queenslanders and especially pensioners in rural areas who are really feeling the pinch that they can go jump,” Mr Springborg said.
“Rachel Nolan would have to be the most unpopular Minister in the Bligh government …she’s trying to defend the QR sell-off and now she’s told 100,000 Queenslanders that they don’t matter.”
Mr Springborg said the Bligh government was responsible for 30 per cent –plus hikes in electricity tariffs, a never-before nine cents a litre fuel tax and from July 1, an extra $50 to $110 a year to register a car.
“Queensland now has the highest motor vehicle registration fees in Australia and all the Transport Minister can say is that she doesn’t want to know about the concerns of 100,000 Queenslanders.”
“Labor has jacked up rego fees between 17 and 22 per cent from July 1 … fuel is now nine cents dear and a lot of low-income earners in regional Queensland are really hurting ….but guess what, Nolan doesn’t care and doesn’t want to know.”

I would like to see what the LNP would offer Queenslanders for the next election. Lets see if they use things like this as ammo to fire at labor.. ;2
