'65 Front Bumper Question
« on: October 04, 2009, 11:21:59 am »
Hi Folks,

We hope that you are all well.

We finally got our coupe back from the painters. Generally very good, but a few little glitches. For example, the front lower bumpers were installed upside down! (Please see attached pic)

I am reinstalling them, and have a question...Do the lower attachments bolt only to the lower valance panel - or go through that, and onto the end of the chassis rails? (There is a bolt hole there that "sort-of" lines up.

I have them temporarily bolted just to the valance, and they stand quite proud of the panel.

Any assistance is gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Have a great long weekend.

Kind regards from Dave and Kirsten
Regards....Dave and Kirsten

FRONT BUMPER GUARD MUSTANG
1. Remove the screw and washer
retaining the bumper guard to the
frame side rail (Fig. 9).
2. Remove the screw and washer
retaining the bumper-guard-to-guard
upper bracket and remove the
guard assembly.
3. Transfer the nut and retainer
assembly and the rubber spacer to
the new bumper guard (Fig. 9, View
"BB").
4. Position the bumper guard assembly
on the car.
5. Install the two retaining screws
and washers.

sorry the best i could do for you as my car is not with me and i have not removed the front bumper. I waited for someone to reply and thought this was better then nothing

JC

Thanks JC

I have a range of things to do. I'm going to have to do more panel alignment, as there are a few that could be better.

It's all a BIG learning experience so far.

Hi J,

Thanks very much for that. It 'sort-of' clears things up as it 'appears' to go through the chassis rail as well as the valance (stone deflector)

Where did you get the diagram please?

Thank you again
