Suspension contacts in Brisbane
« on: August 16, 2009, 11:09:04 pm »
I was thinking about having my 66 fastback rear suspension looked at as it has a bit of sag and the front sits up a fraction.
Does anyone have any recommendations, of companies who specialise in Mustang suspension and offer value for money ?

Also, to cure rear end sag what would be the best solution, the suspension is a bit clunky when you hit bumps so i would rather do the back then lower the front.

thanks

can't help with suspension places in Brisbane, but to cure the rear end sage, either get a set of new leaf springs at the right height or get the current springs reset and maybe get an extra leaf added.  Replace the bushes at the same time.

what condition are the rear shocks in?  is it currently bottoming out at all?

There is a guy who is a member of the MOCA club Queensland who had a mustang shop in the USA.
He has just set up shop at Sumner Park. He does everything to do with mustangs. Business is called Proj-X and the guys name is Layne at unit 18/20 Jijaws street  Ph 07 3376355. If he can not do it he will source someone reputable who can help you. Nice guy.

I got a price a few months ago from King Springs at the Gold Coast - sorry not brissy but they said they could supply new/improved springs in the rear and dropped springs in the front for around $1000-1200 (from memory).  I didnt go ahead as I didn't have the cash.

Fronts will be about $100 new from kings and rears just get them redone by mayne or Bayside. I got a set of Kings for the front of my Discovery $140 last week. Don't know where the $1200 comes from.

I have the pedders drop springs in the front of mine and they go alright.  I am going  to the US in October and will buy some adjustable perches and strut rods whilst there to match them.

Glen, thanks for the good rap- phone number is 3376 3555, though.

Yella, give me a call during the week - I'd be glad to help out. Honestly doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to get the car sitting 'just right'.

Just an aside, I am a Heidt's dealer and their rear four-link with coil overs works well. The stock Mustang front end can be beefed and modified to perform very well without shelling out big bucks.

Cheers-

Layne
