Welcome and good luck with your project! Slang: She looks a gooden'!:(   I'm 5 years into my 69 mach1 project!
When I bought mine here in Kwinana she had a 51 clevo and C6. She should have had a 351w and top loader.

I wasnt aware it was silver jade either as my lappy spat it and couldnt run the numbers

After the guy told me he had the previous owners name that knows where the original motor is....:_:_

I looked at buying this car a few months ago for myself.

What Lee paid for it...bargain basement.

Just need ta chase taht engine

I was in getting our computers fixed yesterday and ended up chatting with a cop who was in getting his squad car lappy fixed.

I asked him (after telling him the story) of how we could track the fella down.

Hes given me a few ideas that may work

Lee, sorry if I havent replied to any emails (if youve sent any) Lappy has been out of commision for a few days and will hopefully have it tonight.

Im trying to co-ordinate a TODAY pick up but I have a 70 Chevelle with fuel issues up in Orlando so it may throw out your pick up

see how the fatkid goes

I am thinking of the rear firewall option because i dont really like the idea of a thick plate sitting horizontal behind the passengers because id assume it wouldnt crumple too well and would just get rammed into the passenger area...

My trail of thought is replacing whole parts (whole floor, whole panels etc) means less old metal...but this is obviously more expensive so is it worth the trade off...

I am also considering putting a rear firewall in given the design of these cars it may be a beneficial fire safety upgrade.

Cheers,

Lee

From the pics I have seen you need

Rear rails (they are available in half sections & I believe in complete units.

That would also mean complete boot (trunk) floors.

1/4 panels, do not patch these as they are cheap considering what you get & fit very well. The time you save in labour trying to fix any rust will be more than made up by these panels.

Complete floor, once again the time saved will pay for the extra.

Check the front & rear torque boxes, if they look suspect, replace them, as they are the backbone of the car.

I would not worry about the tank amour as it is bloody heavy & will actually increase the damage to yourself in a rear end collission as the crumple zones will have been reinforced, transferring the inertia of the smash to you. Your other thought of a sheet brace in the back seat will only work if the car is NOT a "fold down seat optioned" car.

Do not "patch" anything, you want this car to last. If it was me, I would get it home & then you can take stock, then get it to a repair shop where you can keep an eye on its progress. I would have Matt go over the car & get him to list what you need & have the big stuff (actually everything you can think of) shipped with the car.

;y Everything Kerry says is spot on. You have a pretty special car, best to get rid of any trouble spots all together.

I agree with Ozbilt. You can even get full front rail, aprons and towers, with wraps, as a unit now and that is what I will put on mine to do it right. Full floors are the way to go. From what I have discovered it is cheaper to replace than patch, check out the prices for the parts compared to labour costs to patch. My gut said to just buy the parts. spend now to save later. Leave the engine till another day. Looks like we will be doing a lot of the same work. Get as many big parts as you can sent with the car, Get new bumpers and fuel tank fitted if you can
