Hi,

Anyone know of how much a fastback windscreen would cost?
So far I've been quoted about $550.......does that sound right?

I'd see if you could get a package deal on both front and rear screens...
I presume it doesn't include seals at that price??

Hi,

I paid $770 incl. GST for a factory green tint rear screen with Carlite logo for my 65 Fastback from Ralph Moore at Mascot. So $550 sounds cheap!

On that, anyone out there doing a budget 65/66 Fastback resto looking for a factory rear screen with a few scratches?

Michael

davo65 , i dont like that price ;] i also have a scratched rear screen hadnt looked into it yet , but didnt realise they would be available. I was going to look into getting the scratches buffed out once it was back in the car so not to risk breakage. Anyone know who does this in Perth , is it something most windscreen mobs do?

scott66stang,

I was originally looking to do the same thing as you but was told the scratches would be too deep. I guess until you front up with the screen to someone who specialises in removing scratches you'll never know.

When I got a new front screen for mine I was told the rear was very expensive.
The front was $330 trade, so I am guessing $500+ for the rear.

Rear seal I needed for the rear, which was $100. Plus the clips - $2 each - you need about 20 for each screen.

It adds up.

Cheers,
Frank.

Most reputable places won't buff out multible or deep scratches because of the liability involved. If a Blue slip examiner (NSW) notices the waves in glass, they also knock the car back.

I have 4 "Sportsroof" cars, all have scratched rear windows from people stacking stuff on the glass while in storage. All getting new date coded glass. Glass has to have at least the DOT # etched on it.

No other way around it. Price you pay for having a nice car. If you break it down by years of owing pleasure, it is peanuts.
