headers vs free flowing exhaust....
« on: August 15, 2006, 06:26:22 pm »
i have a set of std exhaust manifolds on a warm 289 c4
are headers the way to go
or should i really be spending my money on a nice free flowing exhaust and good mufflers..
realise that headers would also require that as well, but have often wondered if a good exhaust was fitted first maybe headers arnt the way to go....

ie only see std system vs headers and free flowing mufflers combined...

Depends what you mean by "warm". The more work you do on the induction side, aftermarket manifold, bigger carby, cam, and head work the more headers will be efficient/beneficial. The more standard the engine, headers will actually work against you causing bad fuel economy and loss of power.
Money is made to be spent.

If you are using std factory heads I would not waste my money on headers or exhaust.

Ask anybody who knows about windsors, the No 1 performance stopper are the std heads.

Best bang for buck......diff ratio change:(
