Evening All!
Since im a new member here I thought i'd drop everyone a line to say Hi! Looking into purchasing my 1st Mustang within the next few months. :a  I've previously owned an XE ESP 351 4sp (Monza over charcoal) which was my pride and joy and still regret selling it to this day.

Im looking for a 67/68 Coupe with factory air, p/steer and disc brake front that I could drive straight away before resto. However I really love the the 65-68 Fastback's and GT coupe's and if one became available at the right price would most likely put it in the shed and start the resto process right away.

At the moment im trying to act like a sponge and absorb as much info as I can and I must say thank you to all who have contributed to this site as there is a wealth of knowlege here!

I've been leaning towards importing a car from the States however with the way the dollar is at the moment im not sure if that would be the thing to do or whether I wait it out a bit longer for the dollar to recover and in the meantime something may become available within the country.

btw I am an Adelaide boy and I hope to get out to a upcoming meeting or event in the near future to meet a few people here.

Cheers!

Daz

For local info on importing a Mustang, Phil Hart on 08 8552 2122 has specialised in Adelaide for many years, and owned quite a few Mustangs, so he would be worth a chat.

Or Matt from Shermatt in the USA on this forum, has a good wrap for sourcing and shipping cars out.

Think carefully about whether you want to keep a car LHD, or go RHD, as that's probably the biggest decision to make after you decide on a budget, and the year you like. And before you buy, check rego requirements with your authorities so you don't end up with a problem there.

I see what you mean about the whole LHD/RHD thing im already at two minds at what to do. Im currently leaning towards leaving it LHD if I buy a Fastback or GT that I restore as it'll be a weekend car only but if I were to buy say a '67 coupe and drive it for awhile before resto I might look at a RHD conversion as I would most likely use it 2-3 days a week so it would be more practicle to do the conversion. It's still early days though so anything could be decided.

Currently organizing the shed to keep it in, once I have an eta on that and start building it i'll have more of an idea as to when I can start getting serious about putting money down on a car. Hoping to have that done by end of June if we have a typical SA winter of late (bugger all rain).

Regards,

Daz
