I thought you would make them out of metal yourself!

MustangNut

There are about 10 different types of side covers that I know of for the 67 that are similar to the Eleanor out there and of those only 2 I would use.

Bonding steel to fibre .... when I built my Allynor...every one that had built one (and I asked around) What was the best adhesive? and I really honestly thought I would get nothing but ..."use sikaflex"

Spoke to everyone that builds them....they all say

Use corvette body panel adhesive. DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE...thats just what they say...just passing it on

When blending them in use a product called DURAGLASS or a fibreglass body filla

PS. fibreglass sucks...I hate working with the shi1 :+

Hope that helps

We are using the 3M panel bond. It is what Holden use to glue the bootfloor in VE Commodores. The one we are using has a Holden part number, I will dig the invoice out shortly & post the part number up & you will be able to get it from a dealer. Sikaflex (windscreen eurathane) would do the job & be cheaper but the panel bond will be better. Most body kits are eurathaned on but that doesnt make it the best way.

nah..sorry steve, didnt mean the ozzie version sorry...all I can get over here in the Sika products is panelbond something or other or liquid nails. They do have SIKAflex window stuff but I cant find it anywhere but I probably wouldn't use that for the side scoops. Like you said, would work and cheaper but I wouldnt use it.

doin a great job

Steve, is the whole bonnet steel, or just steel reinforced?
Reason I ask is, im ordering a steel reinforced hood from either Fibreglass Specialties or Maier.. to be held up by RingBros or TCP hinges.. now they supply two types, one for glass one for steel, however my understanding was you had to get steel type for the steel reinforced glass hoods...??

Or is the steel frame not enough?

It is a full steel bonnet with the glass scoop moulded in. I imagine that the hinges are specific the the frame. If it is a full glass frame then the glass hinges would be needed. If it is a full steel frame with a glass skin then I think the steel hinges would apply. I am going to use standard hinges with no springs & a pair of gas struts on my car.

Mo, you're the ideas man. How bout you fab them up in steel Mate and i'll weld em on.  I've never had much success over the years glueing bonnet scoups on etc without the filler cracking due to the adhesive flexing. This panebond goo may do the trick though.

67s have to have  black deluxe trim with the brushed alloy, it so 60's  US muscle car, there is no other trim for them. Just like torque trust style wheels.

Thanks 67er.....

rickchampion, Steve the legend has offered to use his Eleanor light kit on mine, and he'll order another set. Ofcourse I'll pay him for them, but atleast we can finish this project sooner rather than having to wait for more parts to arrive from the states.
Wheels...not sure how they'll look, but will be putting on wheels that it came with for now. Budget is well over blown for now ::.....future upgrades: Eleanor style wheels, bigger engine, gearbox, suspension.
For time being, over the moon with just about a brand new car, with brand new interior.
